Have you unknowingly been lured into New Age mystical practices by teachers claiming that certain “new ways to pray” will bring you closer to God? Have you signed up for classes in Spiritual Formation? Have you been involved in Centering Prayer, Contemplative Prayer, or Lectio Divina? Have you read books or taken part in “Bible studies” that focused on books written by people who claimed to teach you how to hear God speak to you, instead of focusing on books in the Bible? Well, this new series of posts in the new Category of posts that I have entitled ‘MYSTICISM MONDAYS‘ will attempt to peel back the layers of spiritual deception and present you with the truth of God’s Word that will expose the dangers of these practices.

Lord willing, at least once a month on a Monday, I will be sharing teachings with you from Christian experts on the subject, some of whom have even been personally involved with these dangerous practices. All of these teachings that I will be presenting to you will focus on many Scriptures; those who speak on these topics will not just be talking about these practices, because it’s only the truth of God’s Word that will expose the dangers of these practices and set a deceived person free.

Lord willing, when time allows, I will be writing many posts in the future zeroing in on specific Christian programming and Christian teachers who are promoting these deceptive practices, but since my time is getting rather limited these days because of other important responsibilities that I have, I will oftentimes simply be sharing a video with you.

When time allows, I truly hope and pray that you will take the time to listen to these messages and read the upcoming posts on this important topic so that you can be aware of these false teachings that are deceiving many Christians –possibly even you.

Please test the teachings of all those whom you listen to against Scripture as God’s Word shows us that we are to do. (Acts 17:11)

Now for today’s Mysticism Monday:

Today’s Mysticism Monday will focus on one song, because it was a lesson to me that we have to even be cautious about the “Christian” songs we listen to! How often have we warned our children about certain music groups and the messages that are in their songs, and told them that they are not allowed to listen to them, and they first respond by saying, “Oh, we don’t listen to the words, we just like their music.” And yet we find that they can sing along with the whole song and they don’t realize that they are internalizing the message that each song is presenting to them, and their values and beliefs are being changed by them!

As Bible believing Christians who are true followers of Jesus Christ, we must guard our minds and our hearts and use discernment –even when listening to so-called Christian music!

There was a time when I really like the following song! Then one day as I was driving along, all of a sudden part of the lyrics caught my undivided attention, and I froze in disbelief at what I now clearly heard!

Below you will find the song that I would like to draw your attention to today. Although these Mysticism Monday posts mainly focus on how mysticism is entering the church, and even I don’t believe this song is actually sung in churches, it’s important to point out that Mark Schultz, the writer and singer of this song, is supposedly a Christian, and this song is played on many *Christian radio stations. *(Lord willing, I’ll be focusing on that subject in the very near future). Before you read any further in this post, please stop scrolling, pray for discernment, and then play this song and see if you can spot two serious problems in the lyrics of this song on your own:

In this song, Mark Schultz attempts to share some of the things that Jesus, the I AM, would say. However, at the 2:36 minute mark you will hear and see the lyrics: “I am the Universe,” which is a New Age concept that God dwells in everything. They believe that God is an energy force and that His presence permeates all of creation. Those who hold to these beliefs will oftentimes capitalize the word “creation” to reflect that belief.

Biblical Christianity is based on God’s Word, the Bible, which shows God’s omnipresence, meaning that since He is God and that He is a Spirit, He is not limited to a specific space; He is everywhere:

“But will God really dwell on earth? The heavens, even the highest heavens cannot contain You. How much less the temple I have built!” (1 Kings 8:27)

“Am I only a God nearby,” declares the LORD, “And not a God far away? Can anyone hide in secret places so that I cannot see him?” declares the LORD. “Do not I fill heaven and earth?” declares the LORD.” (Jeremiah 23:23,24)

It is very clear by what at least one person said in the comment section under the above song, that those who are part of the New Age/New Spirituality movement grasp what the message of his song is conveying:

At the 2:42 minute mark you will also hear and see these words that I heard which also shocked me that day:

“I am in every heart.”

This is also a New Age/New Spirituality belief. They believe that not only does God dwell in everything, but also He is in every person! God’s Word says something completely different by showing a distinction between believers and unbelievers:

“And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” (1 John 5:11,12)

“Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people.” “Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you. ” “I will be a Father to you, and you will be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” (2 Corinthians 7:14-18)

As you can see from the quick capture below, Mark Schultz has been involved with at least one event that raises concerns because it featured New Age sympathizer,  Roma Downey:

Of all the songs Mark Schultz could have chosen to sing, he sang a portion of ‘I AM.’ Among the many others who took part in this event were Phillips, Craig, and Dean, (who are Modalists; they do not believe in the Trinity),  Amy Grant, 4Him, Russ Taft and the Imperials, Michael W. Smith (who I will also be addressing in the future –Lord willing), Steven Curtis Chapman, Sandy Patti, Nicole C Mullen, Evie, Steve Green, Michael English, Larnelle Harris, First Call, Laura Story, Dallas Holm, and Petra.

In the following video of the ‘WE ARE UNITED’ event, it is very telling that beginning at the 4:00 minute mark the song “United” was sung by ‘First Call.’

Back when this song first came out I must admit that I liked it a lot, but in light of the call for (unbiblical) unity we see taking place today, I now find it very disturbing. The message in this song may give us a crystal clear indication that the message of unity was the reason for this event. Here are some of the lyrics to that song:

“We may worship in different ways, we may praise Him, and yet spend all of our days living life divided, divided. Oh, but when we seek Him with open hearts, He removes the walls we’ve built that keep us apart, we trust Him to unite us. In our hearts we’re undivided, worshiping one Savior, one Lord. In our hearts we’re undivided, bound by His Spirit, forevermore. Undivided. It doesn’t matter if we agree, all He asks is that we serve Him faithfully, and that we love as He first loved us. He’s made us in His image, and in His eyes we are all the same. And though our methods they may be different, Jesus is the bond that will remain. In our hearts we’re undivided, worshiping one Savior one Lord. In our hearts we’re undivided, bound by His Spirit, forevermore.”

On this blog I have often shared with you about Warren B Smith, a Christian writer and speaker, who was once very deeply involved in the New Age Movement. He can attest to the “oneness” that the New Age is promoting, and does so in the following video series. I shared this series with you in one of my previous posts, but for those of you who have not seen it, when time allows, I hope you will listen to the important information that Warren has to say in these videos. It’s also worth listening to a second time for those of you who have previously watched it either on YouTube or here on this blog:

In the following article, Warren also goes into detail about “separation,” “atonement” and “oneness.” Notice how those terms that are used in Christianity are totally twisted to mean something completely different among those who are involved in the New Age/New Spirituality Movement.

Here is an excerpt from that article:

“How do the New Age “God” and “Christ” suggest that Christians, and others under “the illusion of separation,” rid themselves of the “fear” that is causing them to feel separate from God? By “atoning” through the “at-one-ment” process. That is, by affirming that “all is love” and “all is God” and never forgetting that they are a part of God. By their definition, the only way you can be “loving” and “atone” with your fellow man is by ultimately pledging allegiance to the doctrine of “oneness.” From this perspective you are either a “love” and “oneness” person or you are a “fear” and “separation” person. Your “love” of God is expressed by seeing yourself and others as a part of God, as “one” with God. Your “fear” of God is expressed by seeing yourself and others as not being a part of God, as “separate” from God. In their New Age future, you will live or die based on whether or not you see yourself as a part of God. It is the doctrine of “oneness” versus the doctrine of “separation.” It is as simple and straightforward and brutal as that.” (SOURCE)

We must be very careful concerning this movement for unity that we are seeing taking place today among so many Christian groups and Christian leaders, because the end result of this type of unity will be the New Age oneness that they are seeking to establish by which each person will come to believe in their own divinity, which can only take place by attempting to destroy Biblical Christianity as we know it, since it teaches that we are all sinners in need of a Savior.

We have the assurance that Biblical Christianity will never be destroyed, but we must always keep in mind that God’s Word warns us about the spiritual deception that will take place in the last days (Matthew 24:4,5, 1 Timothy 4:1, etc.) and how God’s Word also says that ‘Satan roams around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.’ (1 Peter 5:8) So we must all be alert, pray for discernment, and read and study God’s Word more than ever before so that we will not led astray by the many attempts to deceive us!

Because I am trying to finish writing three more posts, I will end this post now. I just hope and pray that this will serve as a warning to all Christians  of the importance of testing everything you listen to — as well as what you read and watch — in light of Scripture, because mysticism is not only rapidly entering the church, but it is also being used in many other ways in an attempt to slowly lead many Christians astray by having them embrace unbiblical teachings and mystical practices.

Thank you for stopping by and taking time out of your busy day to read some of my posts and poems.

God Bless You

~Mary Dalke

“Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. For many will come in My name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ’ and will deceive many.”            (Matthew 24:4,5)

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;”         (1 Timothy 4:1)

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of His appearing and His kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage — with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when  men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.” (2 Timothy 3:16,17-4:1-4)

“For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God. Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which He bought with His own blood. I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears.” (Acts 20:26-31)

“But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.  For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.” (2 Corinthians 11:3,4)

“Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, to whom be glory for ever and ever.  Amen.  I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel– which is really no gospel at all.  Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ.  But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned.  As we have already said, so now I say again:  If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!” (Galatians 1:3-9)

“But evil men and imposters will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.” (2 Timothy 3:13)

“Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.” (Matthew 7: 13-15)
