Here, finally, is the post that I had mentioned to you once before that I was going to put together for you. This post actually came about because of a very good idea that was given to me by Alec, who writes at He requested that I consider putting together some resources that I found to be helpful and to share them with you, the reader of this blog. Thank you again, Alec, for such a good idea!

The suggestions that you will find below are things that I have found to be extremely helpful and indeed necessary to do in the time that we are now living in! A time when more and more pastors and teachers, sadly, are compromising with Biblical truth and are either self-deceived, or outright deceivers themselves! The important information that I have added will also aid you in discovering what may actually be happening at the church that you may be attending right now without you ever realizing it before! Frightening thought, I know!

The first and most important thing that you MUST do — and this is not simply a suggestion — is to read and study God’s Word, the Bible, like never before! Nothing else is more powerful to expose spiritual deception than the very living and active Words of God Himself!

Below you will find some very helpful suggestions that God has used in my life to see what was happening right before my eyes. I pray that He will also use them in your life, to guide you by His Holy Spirit so that you can not only discover any hidden truths of what may be happening at your church, but also confirm some of those disturbing thoughts that you may be having about your pastor or things that you are suspecting may be happening at your church. Be prepared, dear Christian, for what you may discover. You may become disappointed and even devastated by what you may read, but God will strengthen you and uphold you, and lead you every step of the way concerning what you are to do next.

If you already have some serious concerns about what is happening in your church, or even if you don’t, here are some helpful suggestions for you to do. Some are quite obvious, others are not often thought of to even consider doing:

1. Always pray for discernment as you listen to your pastor preaching

2. Listen and follow along in your Bible as your pastor preaches to make sure that he is presenting Scriptures to you in context. You may discover that he is twisting Scripture in order to say what he really wants to say to all of you instead

3. If your pastor mentions a book or a person that you never heard of before, write it down and do some research on it later. You might find out some disturbing information that may reveal the unbiblical direction that he may be leading the church in

4. Never accept your pastor’s recommendation or suggestion for a “good book” and go out and buy it and read it without first doing some research on the author by checking out the content on their website and their statement of faith, and be sure to pray for discernment and test everything against Scripture as you do

5. If you recently left your church because of some valid concerns, may I suggest that instead of wasting your time and gas by driving to different churches, search online for a new church by listening to some of their previous sermons, reading their Statement of Faith, and by checking out their guest speakers or special events they may have had or are having in the future. You can find out a lot by doing all of that in the comfort of your own home

6. Above all, pray for God’s wisdom and guidance, and stay in His Word and allow His Holy Spirit to teach you what you need to know about His Word

(Lord willing, I will be adding more suggestions for you as they come to mind).

As followers of Jesus Christ, and not followers of men, we must do what is pleasing to God and walk in truth. Having said that, what you may discover after doing some research could mean that you might have to leave your church in spite of the many dear friends that you may now have at your church. So be prepared. Pray for wisdom and attempt to express your concerns to your pastor, humbly, and in love, and have your words rooted in the truth of God’s Word. However, sadly, many of us have already found that bringing our concerns to the pastor or leadership of the church oftentimes accomplishes very little. We go to them humbly, expressing our concerns in love and standing for the truth of God’s Word, and yet our concerns are dismissed as being unfounded, when, in our hearts we know that what God has shown us is true. You may even be laughed at or belittled by the words that they say to you in response to what you may say to them. If that happens to you, dear Christian, leave with your head held high, knowing that you have been somewhat persecuted for His namesake and because you have earnestly contended for the faith and stood for Jesus Christ, and know that God is well pleased with what you have tried to do.

Place your trust in God and your shattered heart in His hands, and He will lead you forward to where you are to be next. You may find yourself among the many who have finally realized that we are not to place our trust in any man, but only in God who is always worthy of our trust even in situations when we don’t understand why, and even when things happen in our lives that fill our hearts with deep sorrow. These are things that I have found to be true over and over again! God is always faithful, and He will never abandon those who choose to place their trust in Him.

Some of these videos you may have to watch a few times (as I did) in order to grasp all of the information that is presented in them. They are quite lengthy, but they have very helpful, and somewhat shocking information to help you realize what is happening in many churches today, things that may be happening even in your church.

Does your church offer Small Groups that are referred to as Cell Groups? If so, then these audio presentations by Sarah Leslie of Herescope are a must for you to listen to! You may find it beneficial if you sit down with a notebook in hand so that you can take notes as you listen. I found that to be very helpful because of the important and very detailed and in depth information that she shared in her presentations that you will find at the link below:

Are you aware of what Hyper-Dispensationalism is? If not, please read the following article by David Cloud of  WAY OF LIFE MINISTRIES so that you will not be led astray by this teaching:

Below is an example for you that will help you to identify if the pastor of a church teaches this false doctrine. I found this on a church website on their Statement of Faith page:

“The MYSTERY “Hid in God” was the divine purpose to make Jew and Gentile a whole new thing, that is, the Church, which is Christ’s Body. The revelation of this Mystery was committed to Paul, and it is in his writings alone that we find the doctrine, position, walk, and destiny of the Church.”

Does your pastor teach tithing by twisting Scripture –especially Malachi 3:8-10? You may want to listen to this teaching when time allows:

I must give credit where credit is due: The above two teachings were shared on Facebook by a dear sister-in-Christ, and friend, Lori, who “earnestly contends for the faith” in spite of much opposition.

Originally I thought that coming to learn Reformed Theology was the answer to my desire to know Biblical doctrine in a deeper sense back in 2012. But what I discovered gave me a rude awakening as I came to realize that Calvinism/Reformed Theology distorts the character and nature of God, the Word of God, and the very gospel itself! If you are not aware of what Calvinism/Reformed Theology teaches, I urge you to sit down with your Bible opened and listen to the following video when time allows you to do so. Why do I urge you? Because I have heard from a former Calvinist that the statistics for the percentage of Christians who now profess to be Calvinists are as high as 80% which is truly shocking! We must have God’s Word as our lens through which we look through as we are presented with a teaching in order to determine if it is true or not, as we are shown to do in Acts 17:11, and not accept the teachings of any man – or woman – no matter how many years they may have been preaching or teaching, and no matter how respected they may be among thousands!

As a word of caution, I no longer endorse any pastor or teacher because of so many who are straying from Biblical truth. I only present this to you because it is a very Biblical teaching, and Pastor Myron A McIntyre makes the teachings of Calvinism clear to understand, speaks the truth in love, and uses many Scriptures, which is the most important thing.

Here is the link to an excellent site where a woman, Brenda Nickel, who was once “taken captive by the teachings of Calvinism,” presents a lot of good information from a Biblical perspective in order to make known the errors and deceptive teachings of Calvinism: CALVINISM NO MORE

The statement on Brenda’s website says that her goal is to “…equip Christians to be free from the overflowing tide of Calvinism that is flooding the church today.”

She shares her testimony in great detail in the following nineteen page PDF, which I hope and pray that you will consider reading when time allows you to do so, no matter what side of this issue you are on:

I deeply appreciate Brenda Nickel and her desire to warn the Body of Christ about these teachings that appear as deeper — even hidden knowledge — but instead they are divisive and destructive teachings; they divide Christians, and attempt to destroy the character and nature of God as He is revealed in Scripture.

The realization that Calvinism was beginning to take hold of my former church led me to leave last year after attending there for over five years. I l left mainly because after expressing my concerns to the pastor about Calvinism, he did not see the danger of not only allowing the teachings of Calvinism and Reformed Theology through certain books that were being used in “Bible study”classes there, but also having known Calvinists actually teaching Sunday school classes and Bible studies. He also failed to see the true danger of Calvinism and Reformed Theology and its effects on the gospel and the character and nature of God. When I came to realize that he did not see the need to warn those who attend the church about Calvinism and Reformed Theology after he basically said that to me, it made me realize that I could no longer sit under his teachings, so I left. Even though I still read my Bible on a daily basis and listen to sermons online, presently I am still churchless due to the fact that after doing a lot of research on churches in my area, I found out that they are either Calvinistic/Reformed, or involved in some other type of unbiblical teaching, such as, “hyperdispensationalism” or “mysticism.”

I pray that God will use Brenda to reach many people who have been deceived by the teachings of Calvinism and Reformed Theology, teachings that cause people to take their focus off of the truth revealed in Scripture and all that Jesus Christ has already done, and instead turns their focus on their own efforts and works as a way to (wrongly) measure their commitment to Christ in order to show them if they are truly saved (chosen/elect) or not. This leads to confusion, loss of the joy of the Lord, and ultimately to a downward spiral into depression.

Very important information that you need to be aware of regarding Doreen Virtue whether you follow her or not:

“Seek the LORD while He may be found; call on Him while He is near.  Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts.  Let him turn to the LORD, and He will have mercy on him, and to our God, for He will freely pardon.  For My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways My ways,”  declares the LORD.  As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.  As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields  seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is My word that goes out from My mouth: it will not return to Me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” (Isaiah 55:6-11)

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)

“In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of His appearing and His kingdom, I give you this charge: Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke, and encourage–with great patience and careful instruction.  For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine.  Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.  They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.” (2 Timothy 4:1-4)

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)

“I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel — which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!” (Galatians 1:6-9)

“But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.” (2 Corinthians 11:3,4)

“But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them–bringing swift destruction on themselves. ” (2 Peter 2:1)

“I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” (Romans 1:16)

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.” (Matthew 7: 13-15)

“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men. after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” (Colossians 2:8)

“Brothers, I could not address you as spiritual but as worldly–mere infants in Christ.  I gave you milk, not solid food, for you were not yet ready for it.  Indeed, you are still not ready.  You are still worldly.  For since there is jealousy and quarreling among you, are you not worldly?  Are you not acting like mere men?  For when one says,  “I follow Paul,” and another,  “I follow Apollos,”  are you not mere men?  What, after all, is Apollos?  And what is Paul?  Only servants, through whom you came to believe–as the Lord has assigned to each his task.  I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow.  So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.  The man who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be rewarded according to his own labor.  For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.  By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it.  But each one should be careful how he builds.  For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.”  (1 Corinthians 3:1-11)

“Therefore, I declare to you today that I am innocent of the blood of all men. For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God. Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which He bought with His own blood. I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears.” (Acts 20:26-31)

Much more to come –Lord willing. I will continue to add to this post whenever I remember or find something that you need to be aware of.

Thank you very much for stopping by and taking time out of your busy day to read some of my posts and poems.

God Bless You
