IMPORTANT UPDATE! SEE NOTE BELOW!

Have you ever wondered why there are so many different religions? Many religious groups such as Catholics, Mormons, and Jehovah’s Witnesses claim that they are the “one true church.” So how do we know what the truth is?

Why is it that man is constantly trying to find his own way to God instead of trusting in the simplicity of the gospel: “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.” (Acts 16:31) Sadly, many add to Scripture and they also place their traditions on the same level of authority as God’s Word, thus nullifying God’s Word, as Scripture declares. (Mark 7:13) Many try to achieve a righteousness of their own by their good deeds hoping to earn their salvation instead of simply placing their complete trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ when He died in your place and in mine to pay the debt for our sins in order to meet the just demands of a thrice Holy God.

Do you, dear reader, understand the gospel of salvation according to God’s Word and not according to your religions persuasion? When it comes to our eternal destiny we must be certain that we know what the truth is! When we come to the point of realizing that the Bible is truly God’s Word because the archaeological evidence points to its authenticity and reliability, and if we choose to believe by faith that we have the very living words of God recorded for us as He moved upon the men that He chose to write down His Words for us (Hebrews 4:12, 2 Timothy 3:16,17, 2 Peter 1:16-21)  then we will read God’s Word like never before and seek Him with all of our hearts to discover the truth for ourselves…a truth that is so wondrous and yet so simple that even a child can grasp it and choose to believe it and receive it! A truth that sadly becomes distorted and twisted when the philosophies and traditions of men become added to it and lead many from the life changing truths that the Biblical gospel holds.

Last month I had the joy and the privilege of listening to a young woman in her early twenties share her testimony with me of how her Sunday School teacher shared the gospel with her as a five year old child. Even at the tender young age of five she realized that she indeed was a sinner and that Jesus Christ died in her place for all of her sins, and she placed her trust in Him as she prayed at the side of her bed that night. The joy that she still has in Christ became  evident as she shared that account with me that happened some fifteen or so years ago, and you, dear reader, can have that same joy if you will turn to Jesus Christ and turn away from placing your trust in all of your man-made traditions and righteous deeds that are like filthy rags in the sight of God. (Isaiah 64:6) I pray that you will.

When time allows I hope you will prayerfully consider sitting down with your Bible and listening to this message by Pastor Greg Durel. Be sure to test everything in light of Scripture as we are always to do whenever we listen to anyone preach or teach God’s Word to make sure that what is being said is true. (Acts 17:11)

IMPORTANT NOTE: It was brought to my attention on October 29th (two weeks after I had published this post) that the host of the show (Tony Orlando/As It Is Written) on which Greg Durel appeared, is a Seventh Day Adventist. I am not sure why he chose to appear on this show, but Seventh Day Adventism is a cult. Therefore, even though I have appreciated many of Greg Durel’s teachings that I have been listening to this past month, I will no longer be posting any more of them, and I already changed the settings to all of his sermons that I had previously published and that they are now “private” so as to avoid misleading anyone away from Biblical truth. Eventually I will also delete them, but I guess I’m hoping that I will find out that he had a good reason for being on that show, although I can think of none.

Now you see the importance of not only why we must examine the Scriptures daily to see if what is being said is true or not (Acts 17:11), but also you now see the importance of doing research on every person and ministry to see if what they believe and teach lines up with Scripture, as well! I am deeply sorry for not checking out who Tony Orlando is and what his beliefs are before posting this for you!

RELATED SCRIPTURES

And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither? Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.  Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.”They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work? Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.” (John 6:25-36)

I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.”(John 10:9)

“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. “(Acts 4:12)

“I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!” (Galatians 2:21)

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:8-10)

“And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.”(Philippians 3:9)

“Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.” (Colossians 1:12-17)

“For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.” (Colossians 1:19,20)

Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.” (Colossians 2:8,9)
