SCRIPTURE SUNDAY SERIES INTRODUCTION

Sadly, many professing Christian pastors and teachers today teach that the Old Testament is no longer important or relevant. However, Jesus often quoted from the Old Testament, and Scripture in the New Testament clearly shows us the importance of the Old Testament, as well:

“Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; and were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; and did all eat the same spiritual meat; and did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.” (1 Corinthians 10:1-12)

“For whatever was written aforetime were written for our learning that we through patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.” (Romans 15:4 KJV)

All of Scripture is important:

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Timothy 3:16)

Even before time, as we know it, began, God knew that mankind would choose to rebel against Him and sin, and He already had a plan to redeem mankind (Revelation 13:8) and to establish the only way to reconcile sinful man to Himself, a God who is completely loving, kind, and merciful, but above all, completely Holy and just. He planned to send His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, the second Person in the Trinity, into our evil, sin-filled world, to live the sinless, perfect life that we could never live, in order to take upon Himself the sins of all mankind and become our substitute; Jesus Christ took upon Himself God’s full wrath for all of our sins and guilt. The The Book of Genesis shows us that even in the most perfect of environments man still chose to sin.

Throughout the Old Testament we see just how depraved mankind is. We read about: Murder, rebellion, incest, fornication, adultery, homosexuality, rape, deceit, thievery, malice, lies, etc., etc. However, as depraved as all of mankind was and still is, he — or she — is not so depraved as to be unable to choose to receive God’s free gift of salvation through placing our faith and trust in Jesus Christ as our Savior after hearing or reading the truly good news of the Biblical gospel, as some sadly teach in Reformed Theology and Calvinism.

The Old Testament is also extremely important because: It traces the genealogy of Jesus Christ, foreshadows and prophesies the coming of Jesus Christ, and shows God’s patience with us, as well as His love, His complete holiness, and His hatred for sin. So much more could be said, but my time these days is very limited.

Now I present to you the twenty-second Book in God’s Holy Word –Song of Solomon.  I hope and pray that you will take some time throughout your week to (read through or) listen to another very important Book in God’s Holy Word.

UPDATE:

Lord willing, by the end of this week I am hoping to finish the next post in the series in which we are comparing the teachings that can be found in the Catechism of the Catholic Church to Scriptures in a Catholic New Testament  Bible. It is my prayer that God will not only show precious Catholics how their own teachings contradict the truth that can be found in His Word, but also it is my prayer that God will help Bible believing Christians see the errors in the teachings of Catholicism and fill them with a desire to pray for them and to share the good news of the Biblical gospel with them in gentleness and with respect.

First, I need to, once again, deeply apologize (to those of you who read this blog from time to time) for not having posted anything lately, but I have had to take care of many important matters over the past few weeks, which included looking for a job and a new church, things that I am still presently continuing to do. I still have a lot to do before being able to finally finish writing my post in the present series – APPARITIONS OF THE VIRGIN MARY, OR DEMONS IN DISGUISE? EXAMINING THE EVIDENCE IN LIGHT OF SCRIPTURE, however, I wanted to take a few brief moments to share something with you:

This morning as I was looking at the videos that were in my recommended list on YouTube, I happened to see one by James White entitled RADIO FREE GENEVA – JAMES MCCARTHY’S SERMON ON CALVINISM, which, long story short, led me to James G. McCarthy’s website where I found the link to his PDF – THE MASS – FROM MYSTERY TO MEANING that I posted the link to below for you.

When it comes to speaking the truth in love and earnestly contending for the faith, I consider James G. McCarthy to be among the few who do both well. Many Christians, whether they are pastors, teachers, authors, or simple followers of Jesus Christ like you and I may be, expose false teachings, but if we do not do it in love, it repels those who are deceived, instead of reaching them with the truth spoken with grace and in love.

When I was a Catholic, I firmly believed — like many Catholics strongly believe today — that Jesus Christ was literally in the wafer and the wine after the priest said the words of consecration during the Mass. It was the most reverent moment to me to think that Jesus Christ was now literally present with us, body, blood, soul, and divinity in each wafer and in the wine, and that He would be IN us when we would partake of communion!

I had no knowledge of Scripture at that time in my life, but when I began to read God’s Word, the Bible, after I was given a little Catholic New Testament Bible, God powerfully opened my eyes to the truth as His Word shattered many of the teachings of the Catholic Church that I held to be the one true Church all of my life –until those life-altering moments as I read through God’s Word and tested what I was taught against every Scripture that I read! But you can read about all of that in my extremely lengthy three part testimony that I have posted at the top of my blog, if you’d like. What I really want to share with you today is the testimony of James G. McCarthy!

I SO identify with all that James G. McCarthy has to say in his short, but powerfully written digital booklet, THE MASS – FROM MYSTERY TO MEANING, and pray that God will use it here on this blog to reach many precious Catholics with the truly good news of the Biblical gospel. I pray also that God will open their eyes to the truth of His Word as He did for me, James G. McCarthy, and the eyes of so many other former Catholics — so that they will also come to understand that Jesus Christ’s “once for all” sacrifice was sufficient to pay for every one of their sins — and every one of your sins, whoever you may be — if you will only place your full and complete trust in Jesus Christ’s once for all sacrifice. As the sinless Son of God — Jesus Christ, God in human flesh — hung on the cross and was dying in our place for our sins, His final words were, “It is finished.” Tetelestai; the debt was paid in full. There is no longer any need for sacrifices to be made for sin! Jesus Christ did it all!

What joy a Catholic will have when they come to realize this amazing truth! What love and appreciation will fill their hearts when they grasp all that Jesus Christ has done for us! He alone is our Savior! He is the only Mediator between God and mankind!

RELATED SCRIPTURES

“Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men. after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.” (Colossians 2:8)

“I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” (Romans 1:16)

“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”(Romans 5:8)

“This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him.  This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”(1 John 4:9,10)

“I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!” (Galatians 2:21)

“But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give  the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” (1 Peter 3:15)

“For Christ did not enter a man-made sanctuary that was only a copy of the true one; He entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God’s presence.  Nor did He enter heaven to offer Himself again and again, the way the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own.  Then Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world.  But now He has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of Himself.  Just as man is destined to die once and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and He will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him.” (Hebrews 9:24-28)

“For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.” (1 Peter 3:18)

“For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law.  But the Scripture declares that the whole world is a prisoner of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.  Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked up until faith should be revealed.  So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith.”  (Galatians 3:21-24)

“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God –not by works, so that no one can boast.  For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:8-10)

“This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” (1 John 4:10)

“But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of righteous things we have done, but because of His mercy.” (Titus 3:4,5)

“Anyone who believes in the Son of  God has this testimony in his heart. Anyone who does not believe God has made Him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given us about His Son. And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son does not have life. I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.” (1 John 5:10-13)

“Blessed are they whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.  Blessed is the man whose sin the LORD will never count against him.” (Romans 4:7,8)

“When Christ came as high priest of the good things that are already here, He went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not man-made, that is to say, not a part of this creation.  He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but He entered the Most Holy Place once for all by His own blood, having obtained eternal redemption.  The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean.  How much more then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God.” (Hebrews 9:11-14)

“Therefore brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, His body,  and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.  Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.”                (Hebrews 10:19-23)

UPDATE: Lord willing, I am truly hoping to have the next post in the apparition series done before the end of October.

Capture Test the spirits 1 John 4 1

As you can see from the title of this post, this will be the last in the series of posts for Mysticism Monday. Lord willing, I will be explaining why in an upcoming post later on this month.

The information that you will see and hear in the following videos sums up perfectly the many things that I have tried to warn you about in these Mysticism Monday posts. When time allows, I hope that you will watch these videos and pray for discernment so that you will not be deceived by the many ways that spiritually deceptive teachings and practices are infiltrating many churches today, because some of these things may very well be happening in your church!

If you are new to this blog, I hope that you will consider clicking on the Mysticism Monday Category and read some of the previous posts so that you can be aware of the many other things that I have warned about over the past year or so.

The main thing that I try to stress in the things that I write here on my blog is the importance of reading and studying God’s Word so that you will be able to discern a counterfeit form of spirituality from genuine Christianity.

The following videos will show you how the teachings of the New Age — which are now referred to as the New Spirituality — are merging with Christianity and seducing Christians into the world of the occult because of so-called Christian leaders who are encouraging Christians to have experiences with God instead of telling them that the only way to come to know God is by the truth of His Word –the Bible. Please don’t allow yourself to become one of the many Christians who have been deceived and led astray by teachers who claim to be Christian and yet promote these unbiblical spiritual practices!

RELATED SCRIPTURES

“Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. Not every one that saith unto Me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of My Father which is in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from Me, ye that work iniquity.” (Matthew 7:13-23)

“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” (Romans 10:17)

“Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils.”          (1 Timothy 4:1)

“Behold, the days come, saith the LORD GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.” (Amos 8:11,12)
