To have someone betray your trust is a very devastating and painful experience to go through regardless of who the person is that has betrayed you!  It may have been your husband, your wife, a trusted friend,  or even a family member.

Sadly, many of us are now having to add pastors to that list of people who have betrayed us!  And that is the act of betrayal that this poem will focus on.  Many men of God whom  we’ve placed our trust in for years, slowly over time or all of a sudden come to the point of  changing so drastically that we  oftentimes are left wondering why and feel we can never trust another pastor again!  Pastors who once earnestly contended for the faith are now aligning themselves with pastors who distort God’s Word and preach taking verses completely out of context!  Many pastors  close their ears to the warnings that godly men share with them, they brush off the valid concerns we express to them, they place themselves in positions of power that should never have been given to them and crush those who served faithfully under them for many years!  Some pastors rule as tyrants building their own kingdoms instead of being loving shepherds guiding their sheep in the truth of God’s Word and building on Christ as their only foundation, and living to bring glory to Him alone!

The message in the following poem is clear, and ends with the lesson that God is trying to teach us all.  And the lesson is this: We are not to put our trust in men, for they will only fail us in one way or another.  God is the only one worthy of our trust.  And even though we may not always understand why some things happen as they do, we can have the assurance that He will always be there for us and He will never betray us, deceive us, or forsake us.  Studying His Word, praying for discernment, and allowing His Holy Spirit to guide us in all truth will keep us alert so we will never be deceived.  However, in light of the drift from Biblical truth that is taking place today, please keep in mind that there’s an extremely high possibility that once again we will be betrayed by a pastor or teacher we thought for sure we could trust.

Below is another poll for you to please participate in, and this one will accept votes for an entire week.  This poll will give you an opportunity to express your frustrations, as well.  Your identity is not made known to me, so feel free to vote and make any comments you’d like.  You can also leave a comment or send me a message using the contact form below.

I’d like to express my appreciation to the one and only person who chose to respond to the last poll I posted.  If that was you, thank you very much for taking the time to do so!

“Some trust in chariots, and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.” (Psalm 20:7)

“In You, LORD my God, I put my trust.” (Psalm 25:1)

“But I trust in You, LORD; I say, “You are my God.” (Psalm 31:14)

“He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the LORD and put their trust in Him.” (Psalm 40:3)

“Blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.” (Psalm 40:4)

“Here now is the man who did not make God his stronghold but trusted in his great wealth and grew strong by destroying others!” (Psalm 52:7)

“Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to Him, for God is our refuge.” (Psalm 62:8)

“I will say of the LORD,  “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust.” (Psalm 91:2)

“It is better to take refuge in the LORD than to trust in man.” (Psalm 118:8)

“Woe to you, destroyer, you who have not been destroyed!  Woe to you, betrayer, you who have not been betrayed!  When you stop destroying, you will be destroyed; when you stop betraying, you will be betrayed.” (Isaiah 33:1)

“Enter through the narrow gate.  For wide is the gate and narrow the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.  But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life and only a few find it.  Watch out for false prophets.  They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.  By their fruit you will recognize them.  Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?  Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.  A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.  Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.  Thus by their fruit you will recognize them.  Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father who is in heaven.  Many will say to Me on that day,  ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’  Then I will tell them plainly,  ‘I never knew you.  Away from Me, you evildoers.” (Matthew 7:13-23)

“Remember Lot’s wife.” (Luke 17:32)

“But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all truth.” (John 16:13)

“Sanctify them by the truth; Your Word is truth.” (John 17:17)

“And He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again.” (2 Corinthians 5:15)

“Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed. As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.  But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do. For it is written: “Be holy because I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:13-16)

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off  everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.  Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.  Consider Him who endured such opposition from sinful men so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” (Hebrews 12:1-3)

“In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evildoers and imposters will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.  But as for you continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.  All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2 Timothy 3:12-17)

“But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13b, 14)

We looked to you to preach God’s Word, to protect us and to help us grow

To guide us in truth, to warn us of wolves, to help us discern so false teachers

we’d know

But instead you chose them as your friends, false teachers, who are enemies

of the cross

You failed to give them much needed correction, all trust and respect for you

is now at a loss

We feel betrayed by you, our pastor and shepherd, for you have chosen to go

your own way

The ‘vision casting’ plans you presented to us, do not line up with what God’s

Word has to say

Oh, won’t you please take time to seek God in this matter, to consider the truth

that’s so clear in His Word

And separate from those who have led you astray, taking heed to all the

warnings you’ve heard

Betrayed by you, a man who always says, “You are loved,” but your actions

speak much louder than the words that you speak

Is it really God’s will that you desire to do, or is it only the desires of your own

heart that you seek

Many hearts and lives you’ve left broken and shattered, by the careless, painful

words you spoke that cut deep like a knife

Will you ever acknowledge all the pain that you’ve caused, and repent and

simply preach God’s Word that leads to eternal life

But your actions have taught us all a valuable lesson; to trust in men is

something we are never to do

We must place our trust in Christ alone, allowing His Spirit to guide us

in God’s Word to know what is true

We now realize the importance of being a Berean, to test all that’s said and

done after we’ve sought God for discernment and prayed

It is so never again will we have to say, that ‘we have been deceived and

Well it seems quite fitting that I decided now to begin to write about the shift we are seeing from Biblical Christianity to “another gospel” (Galatians 1:6-9) and “another Jesus,” (2 Corinthians 11:4) as we see Todd Bentley is back once again.

For those of you who are not aware of who Todd Bentley is, you can watch the video ‘Playlists’ at the links below.   My prayer is that you will be a good Berean and ‘examine the Scriptures daily’ to see if what Todd Bentley says and does is true,  (Acts 17:11) and ask yourself: Is the focus on Christ? Does he preach the Word of God? Does he present the gospel?  Does he speak of repentance and the need for forgiveness? Does he make an attempt to expose the sin in the hearts of those who come to his ‘revivals?’ Does he exhibit the fruits of the spirit…love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control? (Galatians 5:22,23)  Do these manifestations reflect the Holy nature of our God, or do they resemble the things that take place in  ‘revivals’ and at other gatherings where people who claim they are bringing forth the anointing and move of God, but instead are imitating pagan practices of emptying one’s mind by meditation and receiving an ‘impartation’ known as ‘kundalini,’ that is said to ‘arouse the serpent power coiled at the base of the spine.’

True revival is a move of God; He opens our eyes to realize our sinfulness in the light of His holiness. Men and women weep in the presence of God and there is a true sorrow that brings a change of heart and mind, and people choose to turn from sin and surrender their lives to Him.  (2 Corinthians 7:10) (2 Corinthians 5:17) (Acts 3:19)

The so-called ‘revivals’ that are taking place today, have their focus on unbiblical manifestations such as being so-called ‘drunk in the spirit,’ when God’s Word clearly tells us to “be alert and sober-minded,’ (1 Thessalonians 5:6,7)  and that we are ‘ not to get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery, but instead we are to be filled with the Spirit’ and we are to ‘speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs.’ (Ephesians 5:18-20)  That’s a far cry from what Todd Bentley and others present to us when they claim to be ‘drunk in the spirit.’

Those of us who have had God’s love and mercy revealed to us are grieved in our hearts when we see these things that are taking place today.  Our desire is to be a voice of warning to the church and to the unbelievers, who not only seem to be able to see these people as false much easier than even some Christians can, but sadly they are turning away from even considering Christianity, when they see these types of things and think this is an accurate representation of Christianity!

How it must grieve the very heart of God when He sees so many claiming to be prophets and followers of Christ, and yet giving such a blasphemous representation of the ‘gospel’ to some who are genuinely seeking God, but ending up with a counterfeit instead.

If you are a true follower of Christ, and are caught up in these types of ‘revivals,’ I pray you will ask God for discernment, and that you will test all things in light of Scripture,  holding God’s Word as the standard to judge truth from error.

Find joy and satisfaction in hearing Him speak to you through His Word and being in His presence, giving Him the praise and worship He is SO worthy of, and you will not want to look elsewhere for something to satisfy your spiritual hunger.

If you are someone who has been hurt by movements such as this, I pray you will not place your focus on men who will fail every time to ever come close in comparison to the glory of God. We must ‘keep our eyes on Jesus,’ (Hebrews 12:2) and stay in His Word so we will not be led into deception.

Those who have the gift of discernment, have a precious gift that should be used lovingly but firmly, to warn others of the many false prophets and teachers that seem to be popping up at every turn today!  We need to pray and let our voices be heard…we need to be a watchman on our knees; alerting other Christians of the spiritual dangers of these prophets, teachers, and movements, and crying out to God in prayer for believers, those seeking him, and even for those who are the ones perverting the gospel, that they might see the truth and repent and preach the true gospel.

We may be filled with a righteous anger when we see such blasphemous behavior and hear the teachings of people such as Todd Bentley, John Crowder, Rick Joyner, Bob Jones, Patricia King, Rick Warren — and the list can go on and on and on — but we must remember that Jesus died for them too. We are saved by grace alone through faith alone in Jesus Christ alone, and must have compassion and concern for them, as well.

Remember that Jesus warns us of false prophets and false teachers and how ‘they would come in among us and not spare the flock’, and added:

“Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. So be on your guardRemember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears.” (Acts 20:28-31)

Please, more than ever before, study God’s Word, and test the words and actions of everyone who claims to be speaking ‘words from God.’  (Acts 17:11)  Please use your critical thinking skills, and do not fall for the line that ‘we are not to judge those who claim to be hearing from God.’  God’s Word tells us to:

“Test everything.  Hold on to the good.  Avoid every kind of evil.” (1 Thessalonians 5:21,22)

Jesus said:

“Stop judging by mere appearances, and make a right judgment.” (John 7:24)

And He clearly shows us we are to judge in this verse:

“What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church?  Are you not to judge those inside?  God will judge those outside.  “Expel the wicked man from among you.”  (1 Corinthians 5:12,13)

Cults use the ‘don’t judge or question our teachings’ tactic, so please use your God-given ability to question their words and actions in light of Scripture, and don’t allow yourselves to be deceived.

Thank you very much for stopping by and taking time out of your busy day to read some of my poems and posts.

God Bless You

Excellent article, ‘PREPARED FOR THE SLAUGHTER: The Disarming Of The Church,’ here:

An excellent series of articles  from June 2008, examining Todd Bentley’s ‘revival’ by Pastor Gary Osborne, here:

“Then the LORD said to me,  “The false prophets are prophesying lies in my name.  I have not sent them or appointed them or spoken to them.  They are prophesying to you false visions, divinations, idolatries and the delusions of their own minds.”  (Jeremiah 14:14)

“This is what the LORD Almighty says:  “Do not listen to what the prophets are prophesying to you; they fill you with false hopes.  They speak visions from their own minds, not from the mouth of the LORD.  I did not send these prophets, yet they have run with their message; I did not speak to them, yet they have prophesied.  But if they had stood in My council, they would have proclaimed My Words to My people and would have turned them from their evil ways and from their evil deeds.  Am I only a God nearby,”  declares the LORD,  “and not a God far away?  Can anyone hide in secret places so that I cannot see him?’  declares the LORD.  “Do not I fill heaven and earth?”  declares the LORD.  “I have heard what the prophets say who prophesy lies in My name.  They say,  “I had a dream!”  How long will this continue in the hearts of these lying prophets, who prophesy the delusions of their own minds?  “Is not My Word like fire,”  declares the LORD, “and like a hammer that breaks a rock in pieces?  Therefore,”  declares the LORD,  “I am against the prophets who steal from one another words supposedly from Me.  Yes,”  declares the LORD,  “I am against the prophets who wag their own tongues and yet declare,  ‘The LORD declares.’  Indeed I am against those who prophesy false dreams,”  declares the LORD.  “They tell them and lead My people astray with their reckless lies, yet I did not send or appoint them.  They do not benefit these people in the least,”  declares ther LORD.” (Jeremiah 23:16,18,21-26,29-32)

“The visions of your prophets were false and worthless; they did not expose your sin to ward off your captivity.”  (Lamentations 2:14)

“Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage–with great patience and careful instruction.  For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine.  Instead to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.  They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.”                  (2 Timothy 4:2-4)

“Watch out for false prophets.  They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.” (Matthew 7:15)

“At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.  At that time if anyone says to you,  ‘Look, here is the Christ!’   or, ‘There he is!’  do not believe it.  For false Christ’s and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect–if that were possible.” (Matthew 24:11,23-26)

“The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.” (1 Timothy 4:1)

“The rest of mankind that were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood–idols that cannot see or hear or walk.  Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts.”                    (Revelation 9:20,21)

“The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing.  They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.  For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.” (2 Thessalonians 2:9-12)

“The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise, as some understand slowness.  He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)

“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord…” (Acts 3:19)

“You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine.” (Titus 2:1)

“…contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints.” (Jude 3)

“But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you.  They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the Sovereign Lord who bought them–bringing swift destruction on themselves.  Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.  In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up.  Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.” (2 Peter 2:1-3)

“Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you for the prize.  Such a person goes into great detail about what he has seen, and his unspiritual mind puffs him up with idle notions.  He has lost connection with the Head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.”  (Colossians 2:18,19)

“A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a miraculous sign!  But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah.  For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” (Matthew 12:39)

“In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, and through whom He made the universe.” (Hebrews 1:1)

“But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes the life of one of them, that man will be taken away because of his sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for his blood.” (Ezekiel 33:6)

Will you stand for Biblical truth when not many seem to care?

Will you expose the lies as ‘new age’ teachings slip into churches, unaware?

Will you speak God’s Word to set them free,

From deception that holds them in captivity?

Visions and words from demons, or their own minds these ‘prophets’ tell,

They fail to give the gospel message, that  alone has the power to save men from hell,

Instead they call on God to send fire to fall upon men,

Never warning them of the eternal fire that awaits  those who are still in bondage

to sin,

God’s fire is a purifying fire that cleanses our evil hearts, as His Spirit makes us bold,

Their fire fills some with terror, and causes a depth of emotional damage untold,

It’s time for the church to fall on our face,

To cry out for His forgiveness, His mercy and grace,

If we are His sheep, then it’s His voice we should hear,

For the wolves are in the sheep pen, and the slaughter is near,

When we fail to test men’s words against Scripture, and seek signs and miracles

Should we even have to wonder, why so many are misled?

We need to sound the alarm and let our voices be heard,

For these ‘prophets’ have rejected sound doctrine, and have perverted God’s Word,

People need to be warned, so God’s truth they can see,

Pray their eyes will be opened, and that His truth will set the captives free.
