SCRIPTURE SUNDAY SERIES INTRODUCTION

Sadly, many professing Christian pastors and teachers today teach that the Old Testament is no longer important or relevant. However, Jesus often quoted from the Old Testament, and Scripture in the New Testament clearly shows us the importance of the Old Testament, as well:

“Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; and were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; and did all eat the same spiritual meat; and did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ. But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness. Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand. Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents. Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer. Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come. Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.” (1 Corinthians 10:1-12)

“For whatever was written aforetime were written for our learning that we through patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.” (Romans 15:4 KJV)

All of Scripture is important:

“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Timothy 3:16)

Even before time, as we know it, began, God knew that mankind would choose to rebel against Him and sin, and He already had a plan to redeem mankind (Revelation 13:8) and to establish the only way to reconcile sinful man to Himself, a God who is completely loving, kind, and merciful, but above all, completely Holy and just. He planned to send His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, the second Person in the Trinity, into our evil, sin-filled world, to live the sinless, perfect life that we could never live, in order to take upon Himself the sins of all mankind and become our substitute; Jesus Christ took upon Himself God’s full wrath for all of our sins and guilt. The The Book of Genesis shows us that even in the most perfect of environments man still chose to sin.
Throughout the Old Testament we see just how depraved mankind is. We read about: Murder, rebellion, incest, fornication, adultery, homosexuality, rape, deceit, thievery, malice, lies, etc., etc. However, as depraved as all of mankind was and still is, he — or she — is not so depraved as to be unable to choose to receive God’s free gift of salvation through placing our faith and trust in Jesus Christ as our Savior after hearing or reading the truly good news of the Biblical gospel, as some sadly teach in Reformed Theology and Calvinism.

The Old Testament is also extremely important because: It traces the genealogy of Jesus Christ, foreshadows and prophesies the coming of Jesus Christ, and shows God’s patience with us, as well as His love, His complete holiness, and His hatred for sin. So much more could be said, but my time these days is very limited.

Now I present to you the sixth Book in God’s Holy Word –the Book of Joshua.  I hope and pray that you will take some time throughout your week to listen to another very important Book in God’s Holy Word.

“And the LORD said to Joshua, “Today I will begin to exalt you in the eyes of all Israel, so they may know that I am with you as I was with Moses. Tell the priests who carry the ark of the covenant. When you reach the edge of the Jordan’s waters, go and stand in the river.” So when the people broke camp to cross the Jordan, the priests carrying the ark of the covenant went ahead of them. Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water’s edge, the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away at a town called Adam in the vicinity of Zarethan, while the waters flowing down to the Sea of Arabah (the Salt Sea) was completely cut off. So the people crossed over opposite Jericho. The priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the LORD stood firm on dry ground in the middle of the Jordan, while all Israel passed by until the whole nation had completed the crossing on dry ground.” (Joshua 3:7,8,14-17)

“Now the gates of Jericho were securely barred because of the Israelites. No one went out and no one came in. Then the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men. March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have the whole army give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the army will go up, everyone straight in.” So Joshua son of Nun called the priests and said to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant of the Lord and have seven priests carry trumpets in front of it.” And he ordered the army, “Advance! March around the city, with an armed guard going ahead of the ark of the Lord.” When Joshua had spoken to the people, the seven priests carrying the seven trumpets before the Lord went forward, blowing their trumpets, and the ark of the Lord’s covenant followed them. The armed guard marched ahead of the priests who blew the trumpets, and the rear guard followed the ark. All this time the trumpets were sounding. But Joshua had commanded the army, “Do not give a war cry, do not raise your voices, do not say a word until the day I tell you to shout. Then shout!” So he had the ark of the Lord carried around the city, circling it once. Then the army returned to camp and spent the night there. Joshua got up early the next morning and the priests took up the ark of the Lord. The seven priests carrying the seven trumpets went forward, marching before the ark of the Lord and blowing the trumpets. The armed men went ahead of them and the rear guard followed the ark of the Lord, while the trumpets kept sounding. So on the second day they marched around the city once and returned to the camp. They did this for six days. On the seventh day, they got up at daybreak and marched around the city seven times in the same manner, except that on that day they circled the city seven times. The seventh time around, when the priests sounded the trumpet blast, Joshua commanded the army, “Shout! For the Lord has given you the city! The city and all that is in it are to be devoted a to the Lord. Only Rahab the prostitute and all who are with her in her house shall be spared, because she hid the spies we sent. But keep away from the devoted things, so that you will not bring about your own destruction by taking any of them. Otherwise you will make the camp of Israel liable to destruction and bring trouble on it. All the silver and gold and the articles of bronze and iron are sacred to the Lord and must go into his treasury.” When the trumpets sounded, the army shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the men gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so everyone charged straight in, and they took the city.” (Joshua 6:6-20)

“On the day the LORD gave the Amorites over to Israel, Joshua said to the LORD in the presence of Israel: “O sun, stand still over Gibeon, O moon, over the Valley of Aijalon.” Joshua 10:12

“…so that anyone who kills a person accidentally and unintentionally may flee there and find protection from the avenger of blood.” Joshua 20:5

UPDATE:

In spite of the fact that my dear sister will have to have another surgery in the near future, praise the Lord, she was released from the hospital and is now back home for the time being! Even though my air conditioning problem still exists, the weather is not as hot as it has been. Therefore, when time allows, I will go back to working on my post regarding how Catholic mysticism is luring many Christians into the Catholic church and causing them to reject many truths that are clearly presented in God’s Holy Word –the Bible. I pray that this post will not only open the eyes of many Christians to see the truth, but also I pray that this post will open the eyes of many precious Catholics so that they can see who Jesus Christ truly is and all that He accomplished for us according to God’s Word, and not according  to Catholic Tradition that obscures all of His glory and power in many ways.

UPDATE:

My poor, sweet sister is back in the hospital, and my central air is not working. It is very hot in my home which makes it rather difficult to work on writing my upcoming post regarding Catholic mysticism that I had recently told you about, so I will not be writing any lengthy posts until my sister is back home and my central air problem is taken care of.  Thank you for your patience.

Capture Eyes with tears 1Welcome to another post in the series of posts that I have entitled, Warning You With Tears Wednesdays. Lord willing, at least once a month on Wednesdays I will be writing and sharing one of these posts with you so that I can make you all aware of some important information that I come across on the Internet that you may not have heard about.

Since I knew that I would soon be starting a new part-time job (and I did in June) and that my free time would then be somewhat limited, I was trying to think of something that I could write on a regular basis that would be short and to the point (at least that was my intention). And since I am a detective-at-heart and desire to make you all aware of the importance of testing things that pastors and teachers say (and do) in light of Scripture (Acts 17:11), the idea to do these posts — as well as the name — came to my mind in November of 2014, based on Acts 20:26-31:

“For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God. Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which He bought with His own blood. I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears.”

So with all of that in mind, here is what I’d like to share with you in today’s WARNING YOU WITH TEARS WEDNESDAY:

1) For those of you who appreciated the in-depth information that Elliott Nesch presented in his three hour expanded video version of Church of Tares, here it is again. I’m mainly posting it for those of you who have not even seen the original shorter version. When time allows, please watch this video. It’s well worth your time, especially if you have many valid concerns about certain changes that you have been noticing taking place in your church:

2) The following very well written article by Pamela Couvrette of GUARDING THE DEPOSIT ties in perfectly with the above video:

CULT OF PERSONALITY: THE DARKNESS UNDER THE EVANGELICAL LIMELIGHT

3) Many of you who are Bereans at heart will definitely relate to what this person wrote in the following letter to LIGHTHOUSE TRAILS RESEARCH:

LETTER TO THE EDITOR: DISHEARTENED WITH LACK OF DISCERNMENT IN SO MANY CHRISTIAN LIVES

4) A big AMEN to the following article that I saw this morning, which Marsha West of BEREAN RESEARCH linked to:

‘THE SHACK’ WITH FILM PENDING CALLED ‘GREATEST DECEPTION’ TO CHURCH ‘IN THE LAST 200 YEARS’

5) Have you seen some of the videos that are warning about all the things that are supposed to happen in this month of September 2015, such as this one?

Well, HERE’S an article by Gaylene Goodroad of Herescope in which she shares information about David James’ book entitled, Biblical Guide To The Shemitah and the Blood Moons that will at least ‘demystify the popular prophecies about Jewish Sabbaths and blood moons.’

Remember, those of us who are true followers of Jesus Christ are not to fear the future, but to place our complete trust in the fact that God is in control. Just “make the most of every opportunity” that you get to share God’s love and forgiveness with whomever you have the opportunity to talk with.

6) Now that school is back in session again, here are a few warnings for all of you with children and grandchildren, etc., so that you can be aware of what is taking place in many schools today! I have shared some information with you on these topics in the past, but in case you missed it, these are things that you all truly need to be aware of:

HERE  you will find many links to articles on Lighthouse Trails Research concerning the dangerous New Age/Buddhist practice of  Mindfulness Meditation and how it’s making its way into many schools today.

You can also read another article on Mindfulness by Marcia Montenegro of Christian Answers For The New Age:

MINDFULNESS GOES TO KINDERGARTEN

Many schools are now presenting Common Core Curriculum to your children. If you are not aware of the controversy about Common Core and what is in this curriculum, please be sure to watch this video when time allows:

7) HERE is a very disturbing story from LifeSite News that may make you want to become a vegetarian, or, at the least, boycott certain companies. I suggest that you eat your breakfast, lunch, or dinner first before reading it. Above all, please pray!

8) After taking a much needed break in order to “maintain his sanity,” Glenn Chatfield, who is the author at THE WATCHMAN’S BAGPIPES posted his latest installment of  his review on Gail Riplinger’s book, New Age Bible Versions a couple of weeks ago. If you haven’t read it yet, you can read it HERE.

9) And just as I was getting ready to publish this post, I was notified that Glenn Chatfield posted his newest article in his series entitled, RANDOM ABERRATIONS APOSTASIES AND HERESIES. So I’m sharing it with you now even before I get the chance to read it. You can become informed about the many things that Glenn wants to make you aware of by clicking right HERE.

10) If you are a born-again Christian who has placed your trust in Jesus Christ alone for your salvation, and the day comes when your faith is tested, and your job may even be on the line, will you still continue to take a stand for Jesus Christ and Biblical truth like Kim Davis has? HERE’S HER STATEMENT THAT WAS RECENTLY RELEASED. Please take a few minutes to pray for her. When things like this happen, we have to remember that it’s a spiritual battle we’re fighting. (Ephesians 6:10-18)

“Finally be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take a stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore, put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.”

Thank you for stopping by and taking time out of your busy day to read some of my posts and poems.

God Bless You
