Capture Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will bw saved Acts 2-21

The Resurrection of Christ

1″Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.”

3″For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 5And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: 6After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. 7After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. 8And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. 9For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. 11Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.”

The Resurrection of the Dead

12 “Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13But if there be no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not risen: 14And if Christ be not risen, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. 15Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not. 16For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: 17And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. 18Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished. 19If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.”

The Order of Resurrection

20 “But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. 21For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. 22For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 23But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming. 24Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. 25For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 26The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. 27For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith, all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. 28And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.”                                       (1 Corinthians 15:1-28)

rainbow-blue-sky-clouds-1-2-4-1

Yesterday was a day that changed the history of my country forever. For the first time in America’s history it has been declared that it is now legal in all of the United States for couples of the same sex to marry. When I first heard the announcement, my heart sank. I saw it truly as a defining moment.

Capture Line in the sandA line has now been drawn in the sand. It will clearly reveal who is truly a Christian according to God’s Word, and who will go along with the world and choose to compromise. It will be one of God’s way of separating the sheep from the goats even before judgment day. Who will be among those who will take a stand for Biblical truth in spite of what the consequences may be? And who will compromise and go along with what some of the world has deemed to be not only acceptable, but now legal?

It was God, the Creator of this world who created the rainbow as a promise to His creation that He would never again destroy the world by a flood. The rainbow is a symbol of the covenant that God made between Himself and His people no matter who may claim the symbol of the rainbow to represent their beliefs. But make no mistake. Judgement is coming. And I fear that yesterday’s ruling will soon bring judgment on this nation in the likes of which we have never seen before because God will not be mocked. This nation has been blessed for so long because we have stood for what God declares in His Word as being right and wrong.

I pray that it’s not too late for our country. There are still many God fearing Christians in this country who are as grieved as I am by yesterday’s ruling, and we will continue to pray that God will open the eyes of many to see the truth on this issue.

Those of us who are truly Christians do not hate anyone. We stand for what God declares as truth in spite of what a person — or even a country — may declare as being acceptable. We also care enough to reach out and speak the truth in love to people who are in rebellion against God as we also were at one time before God opened our eyes to see the truth about our sinfulness and our need for a Savior.

During the thirteen years that I worked at my previous job, I worked with two homosexuals. I never spoke words of judgement to them, and I took the time to get to know them by talking with them and allowing them to share a little about their lives with me. God even gave me an opportunity to talk at great lengths with one of these two co-workers, and he shared with me some of what he went through in his life. He told me how close he was with his mom and how devastated he was when she died. He told me how he never had a close relationship with his father. He also shared with me about a horrible car accident that he was in, and how his car turned over multiple times as it rolled down a steep hill, and how he survived without sustaining any serious injuries.

I was then able to share much of what I had been through in life, and told him how I found healing for my broken heart, as well as hope, forgiveness, and truth when I began to read the Bible and came to understand who Jesus truly is. As I spoke he listened intently to all that I shared with him.

In the few conversations that we had I never addressed his homosexuality, because we are all sinners in God’s eyes. I wanted him to understand that God desires to have a relationship with him, and I also wanted him to know that forgiveness and God’s love can be found by coming to Him through Jesus Christ alone.

One day I asked him if he would read a Bible if I gave him one, and he said that he would. I bought him a Bible and I also wrote him a letter in which I shared the gospel with him.  One evening while those of us who were finished working that night were all walking out, I hurried to catch up with him and held out the wrapped Bible with the letter inside to him. I told him what it was, and he thanked me and accepted it willingly. A few days later I found out that he was fired, so I praise God for the opportunity that He gave me to give him the Bible and my letter before that day came. God gave me many opportunities to share the gospel with other co-workers, and customers, as well. If a person is truly a genuine Christian they will see their responsibility and have an urgency to share the truth with everyone!

Some may choose to speak words of hatred towards LGBT people, but those of us who are genuine Bible believing Christians speak the truth in love because judgment is coming. When Jesus Christ was nailed to the cross and died in our place, He took upon Himself the wrath that God intended for all of us because of ALL of our sins –no matter what they may be. We are all sinners compared to a completely holy God, and we are all in need of a Savior.

Capture Narrow is the path that leads to life

Yesterday the history of the United States of America was changed forever. A line has been drawn. On which side will you stand? It’s not about hating a certain group of people. It’s about taking a stand for what God declares as right and wrong. Will you stand for what God says concerning His definition of marriage? Or will you agree with what the world is now saying? God’s Word never changes no matter what may be declared as legal, and no matter how many people may try to cast doubt on the reliability of God’s Word.

Capture Judgment day

One day each of us will stand before God and will give an account of our lives to Him, and we will be judged according to His Word. Are you going to conform to what the world now says is acceptable? Or will you take a stand for God and the truth declared in His Word?

judgement-day-1-1

Have you placed your trust in the propitiatory sacrifice of Jesus Christ through which He completely satisfied God’s wrath that He has towards us because of our sins when He died in your place on the cross? If you have, then on judgment day you will be covered in His righteousness. If not, if you do not choose to place your trust in God’s only provision that He made for you to be forgiven — by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ’s sinless life, propitiatory sacrifice, and glorious resurrection from the dead alone — you will be judged according to the law and found guilty and condemned to eternal torment in hell, which was created for the devil and his angels. (Matthew 25:41)

Capture Hell - The lake of fire

To choose not to warn others about sin and the judgment that is coming  would be hatred! One day we will all stand before God, and those who continue to reject the warnings that we try to share with them will have no excuse.

Repent, America, while there is still time.

RELATED SCRIPTURES

“Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember My covenant between Me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.” So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.” (Genesis 9:14-17)

“Haven’t you read,” He replied, “that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’ and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’ ? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.” (Matthew 19:4-6)

“Since, then, we know what it is to fear the Lord, we try to persuade others. What we are is plain to God, and I hope it is also plain to your conscience. We are not trying to commend ourselves to you again, but are giving you an opportunity to take pride in us, so that you can answer those who take pride in what is seen rather than in what is in the heart. If we are “out of our mind,” as some say, it is for God; if we are in our right mind, it is for you. For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:The old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.” (2 Corinthians 5:11-13)

“Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable.” (Leviticus 18:22)

“The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles. Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.” (Romans 1: 18-32)

“Or do you not know that wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor homosexual offenders, nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-11)

“Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water. By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly. But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare. Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming. That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. But in keeping with His promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells. So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction. (2 Peter 3:3-16)

“It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. Jesus is “ ‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.’ Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:10b-12)

“Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. If you really know Me, you will know My Father as well. From now on, you do know Him and have seen Him.” (John 14:6,7)

“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.” (Acts 3:19)

INTRODUCTION

Little did I realize at the end of 2012 when I first began to share with you that I would soon be sharing my testimony with you, that I would now be doing so at such a highly significant time in the history of the Catholic church.  Not only is it at the time shortly following Pope Benedict’s decision to step down from his position as head of the Catholic church — being the first pope to do so in nearly 600 years — but also at the time just following the election of the new pope — Pope Francis, the first Jesuit pope.  As always, God’s timing is perfect.

The reason I wanted to share my testimony with you at this point in time, is because of the fact that it was right before Easter in 1980 that God opened my eyes while reading a little Catholic New Testament Bible to see the glorious truth of what the message of the gospel really is.  Unfortunately, because life has been rather hectic lately, I was unable to have it completed for you by Easter because of all the information I intend to share with you.  So for now, I will simply post the poem I wrote last week, (which is like a Catholic version of my ‘Warning You With Tears’ poem) and I will continue to update this post, adding  my testimony, as well as important information to not only verify what I share with you, but also to help Catholics, as well as everyone else, see what the Catholic church actually teaches about salvation and many other important issues that greatly affects a person’s life, and most importantly, their eternal destination!  So, if you are interested, please consider checking back towards the end of May, when, Lord willing, I hope to have Part 1 of my testimony completed.

The reason I want to post my testimony  is because as a former Catholic, the desire of my heart is to reach many Catholics with the truth presented in God’s Word so that they may come to know how they too can have complete assurance that when they die they can go directly to heaven, all because of  Jesus Christ’s complete atoning work on the cross.  After God opened my eyes to see the truth in His Word, I went back to the Catholic church I attended and placed a leaflet containing the truth I found in the Bible, God’s Word, under the windshield wipers of each car in the parking lot during a mass, and finished just in time as all the people began to come out to their cars.  Now, instead of just reaching a few people in a parking lot, I pray that God will now use my testimony, and especially and specifically the truth presented in His Word, and send it out around the world so that many will come to know the truth, so that the truth of God’s Word will set many free!

COMING SOON: PART 1

MY TESTIMONY: FROM FEAR AND UNCERTAINTY TO PEACE AND ASSURANCE — HOW GOD REVEALED THE TRUTH TO ME AS I WAS READING A CATHOLIC NEW TESTAMENT BIBLE

Some of the many topics that will be addressed: The teachings of Vatican II and the Council of Trent, Salvation According To Rome, The Sacrifice of the Mass, and The Sufficiency of Christ’s Sacrifice on the Cross.  And most importantly, I will be sharing many more Scriptures to clearly reveal the truth of what God has to say about many of these issues and more.

***UPDATE** MAY 27th 2013 I DECIDED TO WRITE MY TESTIMONY AS A NEW POST AND NOT ADD IT TO THIS ONE, SO IF YOU’D LIKE TO READ MY TESTIMONY, HERE’S PART 1:

AND THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE

“A faithful Catholic through and through”

Many people say of you

Attending Mass, even more than once a week

Confessing your sins regularly, to the priest whom you seek

Praying each penance that is given to you

Along with countless rosaries, said from a heart that is sincere and true

Doing many good works, hoping they will outweigh the bad you have done

Never having realized the complete atoning work of Christ; God’s one and only Son

Trying so hard to earn more grace

Wanting your sins to be gone –without a trace

For help in times of crisis, Mary and the saints you do earnestly implore

Always going beyond what’s required of you, yet you still deeply fear what lies

beyond death’s door

Will you find yourself in the purging fires, for temporal penalty still due for your sin

How long, you wonder, will you be left there to burn, till heaven you can enter in

O precious Catholic, learn to think for yourself

Pick up your Bible that sits upon your shelf

You don’t need the pope or priest to reveal God’s truth that it holds inside

Pray and read it for yourself, let God’s Holy Spirit be your guide

Test the doctrines of the church against what God’s Word says to you

I pray that God will give you eyes to see what’s really true

No longer will you then fear what lies beyond death’s door

Your heart can be filled with God’s perfect peace, now, and forevermore

You will find Christ has paid your debt to sin in full; nothing left at all for you to pay

It is by God’s grace alone you have been saved, out of love you now choose to obey

Be willing to turn from sin with a heart that is overwhelmed with sorrow

Jesus said,  “Unless you repent you will perish,” so it may be too late if you wait

till tomorrow

Place your trust in Christ alone, on the cross He died; He took your place

God’s wrath towards you for your sins has been fully satisfied, you can be covered

with Christ’s righteousness and His saving grace

You can then pray directly to God the Father, through Jesus Christ, God the Son, alone

He is our only mediator, and reigns in glory, and will Himself intercede for you

as He sits upon His throne

Confusion will begin to fill your mind, as God’s truth exposes much of what you

believe to be true

Will you then believe the Word of God, or still believe all that has been told to you

Pray and examine the Scriptures carefully, and God’s joyous truths you will clearly see

And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free

A VERY BRIEF INTRODUCTION (UPDATED 2:34p.m. 3/25/13)

Even though I have been a Christian since 1980, I still stand in awe of the power and the truth presented in God’s Word, the Bible, to be able to open blinded eyes to clearly see the simple, yet profound message of the gospel.  And that is this: That we are all wretched sinners separated from a holy God because of our sins, how we are all in need of a Savior to reconcile us to God, and that our ‘good works’ — no matter how many of them we do– can never satisfy a completely Holy God.  God sent His one and only Son — Jesus Christ — who was (and is) God in the flesh — having all the fullness of God in bodily form (Colossians 2:9)– and He lived a perfect, sinless life that we could never live to become the perfect sacrifice for our sins.  God poured out all the wrath intended for us because of our sins upon His sinless Son, Jesus Christ.  And God’s wrath was completely satisfied, as represented by not only when the curtain that separated the Holy of Holies was torn in two from top to bottom, but ultimately by Christ’s resurrection!  If we choose to turn from our sins (repent) and place our trust in Christ alone, by grace alone (undeserved favor, paid with the high price of the blood and life of Christ) through faith alone, and obey Him out of love and not to earn God’s forgiveness and salvation, we will be saved.  It is because of God’s mercy and His amazing grace, that He chooses to save any of us, and I am ever so grateful that He chose to save me.

‘Looking Back’ upon my life, I can see how God used all the deep sorrow and hurt I was feeling in the midst of a very painful time in my life to draw me to Himself, and I continue to stand in awe of how He orchestrated every detail in order to reveal His truth to me.

It is my prayer that God will somehow use me to reveal His love and truth to many of you who find their way to this blog through the Scriptures I share with you, and through my testimony that I will soon be sharing with you in great detail.  The Catholic religion may have an outward form of beauty because of its ceremonies, traditions, and elaborately decorated churches, but inwardly there is no beauty or life at all, because the gospel message it presents robs Christ of His victory over sin and death.  And in doing so, it robs its people of eternal life.  (I will greatly expound on that in the upcoming posts I will be writing , and will also add an abundance of documented information to back up what I will say.  So if you’re interested, please check back in a month or so).

Through the many years that I was a Catholic I was bound by fear, and yet, in a matter of moments after reading the truth that I found in God’s Word –this one actually being a Catholic New Testament Bible — I was set free from fear and filled with joy and deep appreciation, because I came to realize that Jesus had paid for my sins and guilt –in full!  His truth set me free, and I am praying the same for every Catholic who will just search the Scriptures for themselves and ask God to reveal the truth to them.

LORD WILLING, ANOTHER POEM COMING SOON:

‘AND THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE

I hope to have this poem completed some time in April or May, along with the first part of my testimony.  Because of all the information I will be adding to document everything I will be sharing with you concerning the teachings of the Catholic church, as well as sharing information from Vatican 2 and the Council of Trent, I decided it will be easier to write and post my testimony in separate parts, but they will all be posted under the main page, which will be the poem, entitled, ‘AND THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE.’ So if you are interested, please continue to check back on that particular post, which, Lord willing, as mentioned, I will write and begin posting in April or May.

Most importantly, as always, I will be sharing many Scriptures to point people to Christ, praying they will see the amazing truths presented in His Word, and that His truth will set many free!

I trust that God will not only help many Catholics come to know that they can have the assurance of salvation, but also  help them to realize exactly what the Catholic church actually teaches, which is why I will be comparing everything to the Word of God so they can see the truth for themselves.

I would appreciate it very much if you would please be praying for God to help me write all of this, and please pray especially for God’s will to be done in the hearts and minds of the Catholic people whom I pray God will bring here to read this information.  Thank you very much!

God bless you, and thank you very much for stopping by and for taking time to read my poems and posts.

I want to end by taking time to thank those of you who are following this blog, as well as those of you who have taken the time to make a comment or ‘like’ or vote on a post.  Your encouragement means more to me than I can ever say!  Thank you very much!

SCRIPTURES FOR YOU TO REFLECT ON

“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

“This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him.  This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” (1 John 4:9,10)

“As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.  All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts.  Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath.  But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions–it is by grace you have been saved.  And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages He might show the incomparable riches of His grace, expressed in His kindness to us in Christ Jesus.  For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith–and this, not from yourselves, it is the gift of God–not by works, so that no one can boast.  For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”  (Ephesians 2:1-10)

“At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures.  We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.  But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of righteous things we have done, but because of His mercy.  He saved us through the washing of rebirth an renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by His grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.” (Titus 3:3-7)

“The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” (2 Corinthians 4:4)

“I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes; first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.” (Romans 1:16)

“See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.  For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form.”  (Colossians 2:8,9)

“Then some Pharisees and teachers of the law came to Jesus from Jerusalem and asked,  “Why do your disciples break the traditions of the elders?  They don’t wash their hands before they eat!”  Jesus replied,  “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition?  For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother,’ and ‘Anyone who curses his father or mother must be put to death.’  But you say that if a man says to his father or mother,  ‘Whatever help you might otherwise have received from me is a gift devoted to God,’ he is not to ‘honor his father’ with it.  Thus you nullify the Word of God for the sake of your tradition.  You hypocrites!  Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you:  These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.  They worship Me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.” (Matthew 15:1-9)

“Enter through the narrow gate.  For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.  But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” (Matthew 7:13,14)

“Jesus answered,  “I am the way and the truth and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.” (1Timothy 2:5,6 KJV)

“When Christ came as high priest of the good things that are already here, He went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not man-made, that is to say, not a part of this creation.  He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but He entered the Most Holy Place once for all by His own blood, having obtained eternal redemption.  The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer  sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean.  How much more then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God.” (Hebrews 9:11-14)

“Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by His death He might break the power of him who holds the power of death–that is the devil–and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death.”  (Hebrews 2:14,15)

“Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 5:1)

“For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous to bring you to God.” (1 Peter 3:18)

“I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!” (Galatians 2:21)

thorns

I STILL STAND IN AWE

I still stand in awe of what Jesus did for me

For His willingness to endure such a painful death to redeem me and to set me free

I still stand in awe of how in the midst of all the sorrow I was going through

In my search for help You led me down the only path that led me straight to You

I still stand in awe at how You opened my blinded eyes

So I could see what I believed as truth, was based on distorted truths and lies

I still stand in awe at the power of Your living Word

To expose deception and the traditions of men, concerning all I believed and ever

heard

I still stand in awe of knowing my debt to sin in full was paid

And how You set me free from the fear of death and always striving to be good enough;

by my religion I was betrayed

I still stand in awe of how Your Word transformed and healed my wretched mind and

broken heart

And how Jesus’ blood washed all my sin and guilt away, and You gave me a brand new

start

I still stand in awe that I can come before Your very throne

That my sin no longer separates me from You; I am Your very own

I still stand in awe of the true gospel message, so simple yet so profound

I praise and thank You for revealing the truth to me, knowing deception and false

doctrine continues to abound

I will always stand in awe of Your mercy and Your amazing grace

And look forward to the day when I will see You face to face

FORGIVEN AND FREEPART OF MY TESTIMONY

Many of us attempt to earn God’s forgiveness and think that if we are basically a ‘good person,’ that when the time comes for us to stand before God, He will accept us if we just try and make sure the good outweighs the bad we have done in life.  But most of us lose sight of the fact that God is completely Holy and that His standard is perfection.

So, how many of us can say we are perfect?  None of us…if we’re completely honest.  God gave us the commandments to show us what sin is, and also to make us realize just how impossible it is for us to be able to obey them all.  So if God’s standard is perfection and if all of us fall way short of that standard, then we are lost and without hope.

That is why God, who is rich in mercy, sent His One and Only Son; He lived a perfect, sinless life that none of us could ever live,  to become the perfect and acceptable sacrifice for our sins.  Jesus willingly allowed God His Father to pour the entire amount of His wrath that we deserve upon Himself, and He died in our place.  And in return, if we choose to place our trust in this free gift of His grace, paid with the life blood of Jesus–who was God in the flesh–He will completely forgive us of our sins.  That is what’s known as ‘The Great Exchange’…our sins were placed upon the sinless spotless Lamb of God, and in return we are then covered with the righteousness of Jesus.

Sadly, however, many religions have evolved over time, because instead of accepting this free but costly gift, many people came up with rules and rituals in an attempt to earn God’s forgiveness.  I was one of many trapped in one of these religions.  I was bound by fear and never knew what Jesus really accomplished when He died and rose from the dead.  (More to come).

SCRIPTURES FOR YOU TO REFLECT ON

“When Christ came as high priest of the good things that are already here, He went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not man-made, that is to say, not a part of this creation.  He did not enter by means of the blood of goats and calves; but He entered the Most Holy Place once for all by His own blood, having obtained eternal redemption.  The blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkled on those who are ceremonially unclean sanctify them so that they are outwardly clean.  How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death so that we may serve the living God!”  (Hebrews 9:11-14)

“For Christ did not enter a man-made sanctuary that was only a copy of the true one; He entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God’s presence.  Nor did He enter heaven to offer Himself again and again, the way the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own.  Then Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world.  But now He has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of Himself.  Just as man is destined to die once and after that to face judgment, so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and He will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him.”  (Hebrews 9:24-28)

“For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.”     (1 Peter 3:18)

“For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law.  But the Scripture declares that the whole world is a prisoner of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.  Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked up until faith should be revealed.  So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith.”  (Galatians 3:21-24)

“But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”  (Romans 5:8)

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God –not by works, so that no one can boast.  For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”                     (Ephesians 2:8-10)

“This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.”  (1 John 4:10)

“But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of righteous things we have done, but because of His mercy.”  (Titus 3:4,5)

“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life.”

“Blessed are they whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered.  Blessed is the man whose sin the LORD will never count against him.”  (Romans 4:7,8)

ONCE

He died once for all, when He shed His blood for you and me

Once for all, so from sin’s power we’d be set free

Taking all God’s hatred for the sin we love that only leads to death

Jesus hung in our stead upon the cross until He took His final breath

Pain beyond our comprehension He endured on our behalf

Our sin demanded justice, so Jesus chose to endure God’s wrath

No other sacrifice is needed, for our debt to sin He paid in full

And the perfect sacrifice of the Son of God was enough to break sin’s overwhelming pull

Still many reject the love He expressed, when He died on Mount Calvary

Some choose instead to continue in open rebellion and hidden sin, refusing His grace that would

set them free

Others depend on good works and their own righteous deeds, and hope the good will outweigh

the bad they have done

And some so horrified by sins they’ve committed, can’t seem to accept God’s forgiveness paid with

the blood of His One and Only Son

But this fact is clear, so solid and true

That Jesus’ death was sufficient to pay for all sin and shame for me and you

Our sins have been atoned for, heaven’s gates are opened wide

So don’t cling to your religion, false doctrine, sin, or pride

Turn from sin, place your trust fully in Him

For only by trusting in His one perfect sacrifice you can know you will one day enter in

Easter Poem 2010  NO GREATER LOVE

Easter Poem 2011  IT IS FINISHED

INTRODUCTION

At the end of May I started to reflect upon  my life, and the things I have done in my past before I became a Christian that fill me with regret and are a continual reminder to me that I am a sinner saved by grace,  even though I know God has forgiven and changed me.  I was so moved with gratitude at the thought of how God decided to choose me, when I see so many other people He has not yet chosen to reveal Himself to.  The title of this poem sums up the overwhelming feelings I had, as the thoughts for this poem came together.  More to come when time allows…

SCRIPTURES FOR YOU TO REFLECT UPON

“At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived, and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures.  We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another.  But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of righteous things we have done, but because of His mercy.  He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by His grace we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.” (Titus 3:3-7)

“Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners–of whom I am the worst.  But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display His unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on Him and receive eternal life.” (1 Timothy 1:15,16)

“Or do you show contempt for the richness of His kindness , tolerance, and patience, not realizing that God’s kindness leads you towards repentance?  But because of your stubbornness and your unrepentant heart, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when His righteous judgement will be revealed.  God “will give to each person according to what he has done.”  To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor, and immortality, He will give eternal life.  But for those who are self-seeking and who reject the truth and follow evil, there will be wrath and anger.  There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew then to the Gentile; but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew then for the Gentile.  For God does not show favoritism.”  (Romans 2:4-11)

“We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin.  I do not understand what I do.  For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.  And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good.  As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me.  I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature.  For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.  For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do–this I keep on doing.  Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.  So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me.  For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members.  What a wretched man I am!  Who will rescue me from this body of death?  Thanks be to God-through Jesus Christ our Lord!  So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in the sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.  Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.  For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering.  And so He condemned sin in sinful man, in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.  Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit, have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.  The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace; the sinful mind is hostile to God.  It does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.  Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.  You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you.  And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.  But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness.  And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you.  Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation–but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it.  For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.  For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship.  And by Him we cry,  “Abba, Father.”  The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.  Now if we are children, then we are heirs–heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory.”            (Romans 7:14-8:17)

“The LORD will call you back as if you were a wife deserted and distressed in spirit–a wife who married young, only to be rejected,” says your God.” (Isaiah 54:6)

“For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men.  It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope–the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for Himself a people that are His very own, eager to do what is good.” (Titus 2:11-14)

“But He said to me,  “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.”  Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.  That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties.  For when I am weak, then I am strong.” (2 Corinthians 12:9,10)

“But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.  He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things-and the things that are not-to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before Him.  It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God-that is our righteousness, holiness, and redemption.  Therefore, as it is written: “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1:27-31)

“This is what the LORD says: “Let not the wise man boast of his wisdom or the strong man boast of his strength or the rich man boast of his riches, but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice, and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight,”  declares the LORD.” (Jeremiah 9:23)

“Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life–in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing.” (Philippians 2:14-16)

“May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified in me, and I to the world.” (Galatians 6:14)

SO UNDESERVING… SO GRATEFUL

What was it that You saw in me

That made You choose to set me free

So undeserving of the love You showed

So unable to pay the debt to sin I owed

No strength to stand against temptation

Always feeling the weight of condemnation

Attempting to do good to earn Your approval

Always failing in my attempt to find guilt’s removal

Bound by fear that caused me to lie

Creating false reasons to escape rejection, I did try

Using sinful humor to find acceptance and a friend

Sinking deeper into guilt, seeking pleasures without end

It was not because of a righteousness I had of my own

It was not because of the kindness to others I had shown

If it was because of my weakness, then for that I give You praise

My heart cries out in thankfulness, my voice in thanks I raise

If it was because I was unloved and rejected, then it was worth the pain

To now know Your love and acceptance, Your forgiveness and joy was mine to gain

If it was just because of Your grace, that You chose to save a wretch like me

Then I will boast in Christ alone, who has the power to set us free

I will never forget that glorious day

When I was reading Your Word, and in my mind You did say

Those amazing words that set me free

From sin and fear, when Your truth I did see

You gave me courage to face my fears

Hope and trust to stop many of my tears

Strength in the areas where I find myself weak

Wisdom, when Your truth to the lost I do speak

Grace to make me desire to be pleasing in your sight

Peace when I focus on Your power and Your might

Men’s words and ‘religions’ are just traps and a snare

They keep us in bondage, when Your truth is not known to share

Your mercy extended, Christ’s blood now covers me

So grateful to You I will always be
