Tag Archive: not by works

Sadly, we live at a time when many of us are like sheep without a shepherd. Many once trusted pastors and teachers have forgotten their God-given role of protecting their sheep from ravenous wolves and have chosen to willingly join with them wholeheartedly. Therefore, many precious Christians are prey for the enemy as they attempt to seek a new church where God’s Word is being preached without compromise, and some end up getting involved with another church where yet another form of compromise or spiritual deception is taking place. With that in mind I decided to no longer share any sermons from any pastors, because the more I find out about them, the more I realize that the only one we can completely trust is Jesus Christ. So, from now on I will just be sharing videos like the one below that just has the audio of God’s Word accompanied with videos that show the beauty of God’s creation, or videos that simply share the beauty of the truth of God’s Word because we should not seek things that simply appeal to our emotions. I hope that you will take a few minutes to listen and allow God’s Word to comfort your soul and cleanse your mind from worry, doubt, and fear, and guide you in truth.

For those of you who have yet to come to grasp the depth of the love that God has for you, I hope that you will consider listening to the truly good news of the Biblical gospel that you will hear as you watch this beautiful video of waterfalls that was put together by Martin Erdmann of the Verax Institute.

UPDATE:

Lord willing, I hope to be able to write a post in the near future with Biblical guidelines to help you choose a good church, and will also be sharing what to look out for if you are among the many who are searching for a new church as I am still doing after leaving four churches now. I will be sharing some of the churches that I have researched in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago, and what I  discovered that you need to be aware of so that you do not find yourselves at one of these churches where there are unbiblical things taking place.

Thank you very much for stopping by and taking time out of your busy day to read some of my posts and poems.

God Bless You

SERMON SUNDAY

Capture Picture - Preach the Word - Preacher's hand holding Bible

“Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.” (2 Timothy 4:2-4)

Welcome to another post in the category of posts entitled, ‘SERMON SUNDAY.’ Lord willing, at least a few times a month I will share a sermon with you by a well respected preacher who focuses on an important truth in Scripture in order to awaken the slumbering church, and also to alert Christians to the importance of reading and studying God’s Word. It may be a short sermon in written form, or I may present something to you in video form. I pray that when time allows, you will take the time to read or to listen to what I will be sharing with you.

I will also be sharing some expository preaching with you, but sadly, that is a very rare thing to find these days. I’m sure that many of you can attest to that undeniable fact. Sadly, many pastors today who seek to grow their churches oftentimes resort to distorting God’s Word either by taking a verse out of context, or by interjecting their own ideas into the text to make it say what they want a verse of Scripture to say (eisegesis). Sometimes a pastor will even go as far as to manipulate Scriptures in such a way so that they can preach about themselves (narcissistic eisegesis).

Then there are some pastors who just present watered down messages with very little Biblical content, and others who ‘preach’ controversial messages that will appeal to today’s culture in order to attract more people. Sadly they will continue ‘preaching’ these types of messages in order to entertain the crowd to keep them coming, rather than preaching God’s Word as they are instructed to do in order to feed and equip the sheep/saints and to expose the sin in men’s hearts so that God will grant them repentance and lead them to a knowledge of the truth.

My main goal in presenting these sermons to you is to point you to Jesus Christ and to make you realize the extreme importance of studying God’s Word and testing the teachings of everyone you listen to in light of Scripture.

Maybe you are one of those people who faithfully stand for Biblical truth and you recently had to leave your church because of what has been taking place as you have witnessed your pastor slowly drift from Biblical truth. Or maybe you left your church many years ago and you still haven’t found a church where the pastor preaches from God’s Word. If so, I have all of you in mind when posting these teachings and videos, as well.

For those who somehow find there way here, I hope and pray that you will be blessed and encouraged by the many Biblical teachings that I will be sharing with you in the weeks and months ahead –Lord willing.

Now for today’s SERMON SUNDAY:

In the following sermon, A. W. Tozer gives a clear and detailed explanation of what it truly means to “accept [Jesus] Christ.” Here are a few excerpts from his message:

“How do I come into a saving relation to Christ. He alone saves without merit or works.”

“It’s to accept Him exclusively, and not any other hope than Him; He alone is my hope.”

“Yes sir…you can’t afford to be lost…you can’t afford to take for granted you’re saved when all that’s happened is somebody has picked you out of your shell and tried to make a Christian out of you, and you’ve never known what it is to be born-again.”

SCRIPTURES FROM A W TOZER’S MESSAGE PLUS A FEW ADDITIONAL ONES

“But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.” (John 1:12)

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” (Ephesians 2:8-10)

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me. I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.” (Galatians 2:20,21)

“And He said to them all, “If any man will come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” (Luke 9:23)

“I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” (Galatians 1:6-9)

But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.”     (2 Corinthians 11:3,4)

“This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.” (1 Timothy 1:15)

“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”                     (1 Corinthians 15:3,4)

“Come unto Me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)

Thank you very much for stopping by and taking time out of your relaxing weekend (at least I hope it was) to read some of my posts and poems.
