The teachings of psychology always intrigued me –until after I became a Christian and began to read the Bible. The more I read God’s Word, the more God began to heal me from how others had caused me to view myself as God began to renew my mind with the truth of His Word. God set me free from many fears, and it was all through the power of His living Word and His Holy Spirit.

We are not doomed to repeat the destructive behaviors of our fathers and mothers and become like they are, as some teachings in psychology lead one to believe. We are each responsible for our own choices and cannot blame others for how our life is today. Even though their destructive behavior may have deeply affected and devastated us, we still have a choice concerning how we are going to respond and lead the rest of our life. Will we choose to hold on to bitterness, resentment, anger, and unforgiveness? Or will we choose to forgive with an act of our will and move on with our lives? Some people may be able to somewhat go on with life by burying the pain through busying themselves in their work, or drowning their sorrows in alcohol and other drugs, but true healing can take place if a person places their faith and trust in Jesus Christ and takes the time to read and study God’s Word. Over time God’s Holy Spirit can and will renew our minds and make all things new. (2 Corinthians 5:17) Again, I speak from experience.

I know someone who was verbally abused as well as physically abused as a child in many horrific ways: pushed down a flight of stairs, locked in a closet, etc.  Yet this person made the choice to never treat their child the way they were treated, and did not become a child abuser as psychology often teaches happens to those who were abused as a child.

As Christians we are being led to believe that God’s Word is not sufficient to help us overcome the problems and devastating circumstances that we all face at some point in our lives, whether it is the death of a loved one, the infidelity of a spouse, the end of a marriage due to a spouse who wants out for some reason, sexual abuse, etc. Many suggest going to “Christian” counseling to bring healing to our troubled hearts and minds, and psychology is now widely accepted and endorsed by many Christians today. You will find that many churches these days offer some type of so-called Biblical counseling classes in order for you to overcome addictions,  fears, and depression. But have you ever stopped to consider the roots of psychology and what teachers such as Sigmund Freud, Carl Yung, Carl Rogers, Abraham Maslow and others believed? Are you aware of the fact that Carl Yung received many of his teachings from a spirit guide? Psychology oftentimes incorporates occult practices such as visualization and hypnosis along with their teachings that are rooted in the occult, and therefore the teachings of psychology cannot be merged with Christianity.

You will also hear about Rick Warren’s Purpose Driven Life and Purpose Driven Church Movement and how his teachings are not based on Biblical principles but rather on worldly strategies to grow the church, and how he focuses on social justice issues rather than on preaching the gospel. You will also hear how his church presents unbiblical counseling classes and occult practices. (In one of my previous posts I added quick captures of information that I found on Saddleback Church’s website in order to show you they offer classes on yoga, which is a religious practice in Hinduism). Those are just some of the things that you will find out if you take the time to listen to the following teachings in the Playlist that I shared with you below. The speakers include Dave Hunt, T A McMahon, James Sundquist, and Bob Klenck.

Much more could be said, but my time is extremely limited this week, so I will close by saying the following:

Dear Christian, and every reader of this post, when time allows, please consider listening to the following videos. If you have never heard the Biblical gospel and placed your faith and trust in Jesus Christ alone for your salvation, please get yourself a Bible, pray for God to reveal His truth to you, and then begin reading through the gospel of John and the Book of Romans, and wherever else you are led to read in God’s Word. If you choose to believe the good news of the gospel [Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, willingly came to this earth to live the perfect, sinless life that you and I could never live, to become the perfect sacrifice by dying on the cross in your place and in mine to pay the debt for all of our sins and guilt in full, that He was buried and arose bodily from the grave on the third day which showed that He fully satisfied God’s wrath and His just demands] you will then be forgiven and covered in the righteousness of Jesus Christ, and all of your sins and guilt will be washed away, never to be remembered again. 

In Jesus Christ alone you will find true healing and hope, and you will find that His strength and His grace will be sufficient to help you face tomorrow. No matter how difficult your circumstances may be, and no matter what trials may come your way, He promises to never leave you or forsake you, unlike others who have made that promise to you in your life and yet have broken it.

Do not be deceived by the philosophies of men and occult practices that have been presented to you cloaked with Christian sounding words. Look to Jesus Christ alone and to His Word. That is all we need to bring hope and healing to our minds and to our broken, shattered lives and sinful hearts.

DEPRESSION CAN COME FROM WRONG THINKING, A LACK OF TRUST IN GOD, A LACK OF SLEEP, AND IMPROPER EATING, AS WELL, AS THIS PASSAGE OF SCRIPTURE IN 1 KINGS 19:1-18 SEEMS TO INDICATE

Now Ahab told Jezebel everything Elijah had done and how he had killed all the prophets with the sword. So Jezebel sent a messenger to Elijah to say, “May the gods deal with me, be it ever so severely, if by this time tomorrow I do not make your life like that of one of them. Elijah was afraid and ran for his life. When he came to Beersheba in Judah, he left his servant there, while he himself went a day’s journey into the wilderness. He came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.” Then he lay down under the bush and fell asleep. All at once an angel touched him and said, “Get up and eat.” He looked around, and there by his head was some bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again. The angel of the Lord came back a second time and touched him and said, “Get up and eat, for the journey is too much for you.” So he got up and ate and drank. Strengthened by that food, he traveled forty days and forty nights until he reached Horeb, the mountain of God. There he went into a cave and spent the night. And the word of the Lord came to him: “What are you doing here, Elijah?” He replied, “I have been very zealous for the Lord God Almighty. GOD’S WORD COUNSELS AND STRENGTHENS US

“Your statutes are my delight, they are my counselors.” (Psalm 119:24)

“My soul is weary with sorrow; strengthen me according to your word.”                 (Psalm 119:28)

 

BIBLICAL MEDITATION IS REFLECTING ON GOD’S WORD, NOT BLANKING OUT YOUR MIND AS TAUGHT IN OCCULTIC FORMS OF MEDITATION

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in seasonand whose leaf does not wither.”  (Psalm 1:1-3)

“I meditate on your precepts and consider your ways. I delight in your decrees; I will not neglect your word.” (Psalm 119:15)

“I remember the days of long ago; I meditate on all your works and consider what your hands have done. I spread out my hands to you; I thirst for you like a parched land. Answer me quickly, Lord; my spirit fails. Do not hide your face from me or I will be like those who go down to the pit. Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.” (Psalm 143:5-8)


 

THE HOLY SPIRIT IS OUR COUNSELOR

“Jesus replied, “If anyone loved me he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him and we will come to him and make our home with him. He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me. All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:23-27)

“When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me.” (John 15:26)

“But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go I will send him to you. When he comes he will convict the world of guilt, in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me; in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer, and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned. I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.”  (John 16:7-13)

UPDATE AND PRAISE REPORT:

God gave me the desire of my heart concerning a job by having circumstances change, and starting next week I will have my childcare job back taking care of the precious little girl that I had the privilege of caring for ever since she was only five weeks old! (Thank You, Jesus!) So over the next few days I will be working on updating one post, and completing at least two posts, with the hope of presenting them to you by Tuesday –Lord willing.

Just a quick post to let you know about the Berean Call Conference that started today. The topics that will be discussed will be extremely important ones because they address  many popular teachings that distort Biblical truth, the nature of God, and the gospel itself!

The topics that will be discussed will show you just how relevant God’s Word is for our day because the “doctrines of demons” that God’s Word warns us about in 1 Timothy 4:1 have now come into many churches these days through things such as Contemplative Prayer, Spiritual Formation classes, and through many other occultic practices. Because the titles of these occultic practices have been cloaked in somewhat Christian terminology when they are presented in many churches, and because some Christians fail to pray for discernment and fail to test things against Scripture and are just not aware of the fact that these practices are occultic in nature, many Christians are now being led away from Biblical truth and into the world of the occult!

Not only will these speakers share important information with you, but also these speakers will encourage you by sharing God’s Word with you. If you haven’t realized it yet, after listening to these speakers you will come to realize the extreme importance of testing the words of every pastor and teacher that you listen to against God’s Word so that you will not be among the many who have been deceived by some of these practices and teachings.

Capture Test the spirits 1 John 4 1

 

Have you unknowingly been lured into New Age mystical practices by teachers claiming that certain “new ways to pray” will bring you closer to God? Have you signed up for classes in Spiritual Formation, or has your pastor been preaching on it? Have you been involved in “ChristianYoga, Centering Prayer, Contemplative Prayer, or Lectio Divina? Well, this series of posts in the new Category of posts that I have entitled, ‘MYSTICISM MONDAYS,‘ will attempt to not only peel back the layers of the many forms of spiritual deception that have been entering the church in order to reveal them to you as being lies of the enemy of our souls, but also the intention of these posts is to present you with the truth of God’s Word in order to expose the spiritual dangers of these practices.

Lord willing, at least once a month on a Monday, I will be sharing teachings with you from Christian experts on the subject, some of whom have even been personally involved with these dangerous practices. All of these teachings that I will be presenting to you will focus on many Scriptures; those who speak on these topics will not just be talking about these practices, because it’s only the truth of God’s Word that will expose the dangers of these practices and set a deceived person free.

Lord willing, when time allows, I will be writing many posts in the future zeroing in on specific Christian programming and Christian teachers who are promoting these deceptive practices, (I recently posted a very lengthy one concerning Moody Radio which I updated last weekend, and when time allows I will complete it by adding notes that I took as I listened to many of Moody’s, now cancelled, Midday Connection programs) but since my time is getting rather limited these days because of other important responsibilities that I now have, I will oftentimes simply be sharing a video or an article with you.

When time allows, I truly hope and pray that you will take the time to listen to these messages or read these articles, as well as read the upcoming posts that — Lord willing — I will be writing on these important topics so that you can be aware of these false teachings that are deceiving many Christians –possibly even you!

Please be sure that you test the teachings of all those whom you listen to against Scripture as God’s Word shows us that we are to do (Acts 17:11) so that you will never be deceived.

I hope and pray that all of you who are Bible believing followers of Jesus Christ are constantly testing what your pastors and teachers are presenting to you against the truth of God’s Word as we are shown in Scripture to do (Acts 17:11) no matter how long they have been in ministry, because many pastors and teachers are now embracing and presenting New Age mystical practices to their people through things such as yoga, as well as  though meditation practices which often times are found in Spiritual Formation classes and are referred to as Contemplative Prayer, silent prayer, Lectio Divina, Taize, etc.

These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” (Acts 17:11)

Mysticism in the church is one of the many ways that Satan is now using to bring about the oneness and unity that is being promoted in the world to bring about the One World Religion. Sadly, many pastors and teachers lack discernment and have now become tools in Satan’s hands to promote these mystical practices. We must keep in mind what God says in His Word:

“Be sober; be vigilant; because your adversary, the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)

“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil.” (1 Thessalonians 5:21,22)

“Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.” (2 Corinthians 2:11) 

Are you a follower of  a man (or woman) and their ministry? Or are you a follower of Jesus Christ? Will you be a Berean and examine the Scriptures daily to see if what they are saying is true? Will you walk in the light and in truth and leave, if necessary, if Yoga and other mystical practices  are being promoted at your church? Or are the relationships that you have developed over the years while you have attended your church more important to you than being obedient to God and the truth presented in His Word? True followers of Jesus Christ will follow Him –no matter what the cost.

“For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things.” (2 Corinthians 2:9)

 

Now for today’s Mysticism Monday:


On February 5, 2016, Larry DeBruyn of GUARDING HIS FLOCK was a guest on Tom McMahon’s radio program Search The Scriptures 24/7.  The title of their discussion was Have You Contemplated Your Spirituality? Some of the things they discussed were Contemplative Prayer, solitude, silence, the desert fathers, what is true spirituality, and more. Everything was examined in light of Scripture, including the life of Jesus to see if any of these practices were in any way presented in Scripture as an example for us to follow.

When time allows I hope you will listen to these programs so that you might grow in your understanding of how mysticism is rapidly entering many churches these days and leading many astray. Please don’t allow yourself to be one of the many who are being deceived by these spiritual practices that attempt to lure you in through your emotions. Stand fast against the wiles of the devil! Good morning everyone! While searching YouTube for new Warren B Smith videos, I came across these Bible Conference videos on CORNERSTONE BAPTIST CHURCH’S CHANNEL. I put all of the videos together in a Playlist on MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL,  and I also wanted to share the Playlist with all of you, so I posted it below.

I hope and pray that you will not only learn from these wonderful, Biblical speakers, but that you will also be encouraged and motivated to study and to know God’s Word well!

As Christians we must stand fast in these days of strong spiritual deception; we must learn to discern between truth and error and realize the importance of testing the teachings of pastors and teachers against Scripture, (Acts 17:11) as well as test the teachings of those who are put in leadership positions, and those who write Christian books, so that we will  never be led astray or into mysticism and into the world of the occult.

God’s Word is what we truly need, and the Holy Spirit should be our main teacher. Jesus Christ is the only one we as Christians should be following, and not any man (or woman) and their ministry.

Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.” (2 Corinthians 11:13-15)
