The Scripture I added to the above picture, is one that has come to my mind quite frequently in the past few months, as many of us are finding it more and more difficult to find a preacher who preaches an untainted Biblical message, and continue to observe the shift from Biblical Christianity to something that could only be called ‘paganism’ without it being an exaggeration!

In the name of ‘unity,’ many churches have blended mystical, pagan and religious practices from the past and present, which is really called ‘syncretism.’  Whatever you may call it, God warns us in His Word not to be yoked together with unbelievers, or to follow their practices. (2 Corinthians 6:14-17) (Exodus 23:13,24,32,33) (I posted all of those  Scriptures for you below).

I find it very interesting that God uses this word, ‘yoke,’ in this Scripture, when today many Christians are embracing ‘yoga’ and calling it ‘exercise.’  When I first became a Christian, I was very blessed to have a wonderful Christian woman for my Bible study teacher.  She was the first person who explained the dangers of ‘yoga,’ to me, and how the very word ‘yoga’ means ‘to yoke’ and when someone practices yoga, they are actually yoking themselves together with the Hindu gods Brahma and/or Shiva!  (For much more information, please watch the video playlist, ‘Gods Of The New Age,’ and  I will add more, and some that I have already listed on my ‘Watchmen On Our Knees’ page)  She shared with us how a ‘yoke’ is the harness that joins two cows or bulls together as they work the field, and they both must go in the same direction, and not fight against one another.  So, for us to ‘yoke’ ourselves together with others who present another form of spirituality that will lead us from our one and only true and living God to become yoked with a false demon god, would be a very dangerous thing for us to do!

Much more can be said about the spiritual dangers of ‘yoga,’ but all the information you need to know will be in the videos that I have added the links to below.  Please watch so you will be well informed, and be able to help others who are considering joining a yoga class.  Please also lovingly share the information with Christians who are considering joining a yoga class, even if they get angry or upset with you, as one of my friends somewhat did with me.  If you stand for Biblical truth and truly care about people, they need to be warned about this!

‘Meditation’ is now called… ‘contemplative prayer,’ ‘centering prayer,’ ‘soaking prayer,’ and ‘breath prayers,’ …new age/Buddhist practices, cloaked in new words; presented as new ways to connect with God on a deeper more personal level.  Sadly these practices are being accepted and embraced without hesitation, by many Christians today.

Could it be that the reason we are seeing so many ‘new age’ practices penetrating the church today, is because God has allowed people to have what their evil hearts have been seeking after…the satisfaction of their flesh, as they seek after ‘signs and wonders’ which God says a wicked and adultress generation seek after?  (Matthew 12:39,40)  Could it be that God has sent this ‘famine of hearing the truth of His Word,’ so that people would realize that after partaking in these ‘experiences’ many desire and seek after today, instead of seeking Him with all their hearts, they will finally realize they do not bring them the satisfaction that they have been told they would bring, and then they are left with no truth and no one else to turn to?

One of the reasons for the many occultic/’new age’ practices that are being accepted in the church today is definitely because many have not tested things in light of Scripture,  (1 Thessalonians 5: 21,22) and do not ‘examine the Scriptures to see if what is being said by those who claim to speak for God is true.’  (Acts 17:11) Also because many no longer treasure the fact that as believers in Christ, we can ‘come before the very throne of God in our time of need,’ (Hebrews 4:14-16) and since many no longer hold God’s Word  as the final word of authority to determine what is true or not,  they have allowed themselves to become deceived.

I think back to the book of Exodus, and how time and time again, God delivered the Israelite people from the Egyptians.  His presence was with them in a very real way; He would guide them by day in a pillar of cloud, and by night in a pillar of fire, never leaving them for a moment.  (Exodus 13:21,22)  He provided for their every need…water from the rock, miraculous provisions of food through the manna and quail, and their clothes for all that time never wore out!  (Oh how many of us today would complain just about that!)  With great power  and His mighty hand, He miraculously parted the Red Sea and allowed them to  safely pass through on dry land, before He drowned every last one of the Egyptians who pursued them.

Truly they saw God perform wonders that were enough to build the faith of anyone! Yet shortly after those amazing and miraculous ways that God cared for them and revealed Himself to them and delivered them from the Egyptians, they turned and worshiped other gods!! Moses had gone up to meet with God on Mount Sinai to receive the law, and the people quickly grew impatient and desired other gods to go before them. A golden calf was made after melting down their jewelry, and they bowed down to it, offered sacrifices to it, and indulged in pagan revelry. (Exodus 32:1-35)

So it must not be that people desire God to become more real to them, because God had made Himself very real to the Israelites, and yet they still turned to idols and pagan rituals.  It’s just that people, left to themselves, without a heart that is fully surrendered and devoted to God, will turn to anything to fill the spiritual void in their lives, and go back to their sinful rebellious ways. Without continuing to stay focused on the truth of God’s Word, we can wander into some dangerous spiritual territory!

The Old Testament clearly shows us the lost and sinful nature of man.  Great men of God, such as David, who is described as ‘a man after God’s own heart,’ committed adultery and murder!  Account after account of the lives of many in the Old Testament, reveals to us that even though they had a deep love for God, because of their sinful nature, they were prone to wander.  It was only because they believed God, that God’s righteousness was credited to them. (See Genesis 15:6, Romans 4:1-  25, Galatians 3:5-14, and James 2:23-25)

God also clearly shows us in His Word, that there is no hope for man ever to be saved by obeying the law, and that the law was given to us to show us what sin is (Romans 3:20) But God, so rich in mercy,  provided the ultimate sacrifice to pay for our sin debt.  Jesus, God in human flesh, lived the perfect, sinless life that we could never live, became our substitute, and paid with His own life’s blood, the debt we owed for our sin.  He took upon Himself the wrath of God intended for each and every one of us, and satisfied God’s wrath He had towards us for our sin.  He willingly died for us, was buried, and arose bodily from the grave on the third day.  How could so many, have lost sight of that beautiful and powerful gospel message today, and given themselves over to paganism!?

I may add even more thoughts over the days to come, and a list of books and people who promote these things, so you are aware of these spiritual dangers for yourselves and so you can warn others, but I want to share the truth of God’s Word for you to focus on, which is the most important thing I could ever share with you.

Thank you for stopping by and taking time out of your busy day to read some of my posts and poems.

God Bless You

Jesus said,  “Watch out that no one deceives you.  For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many.  For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect-if that were possible.  See, I have told you ahead of time.” (Matthew 24:4,5,24,25)

“Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage-with great patience and careful instruction.  For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine.  Instead to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.  They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.” (2 Timothy 4:2-4)

“The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.”  (1 Timothy 4:1)

“Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.” (Joshua 1:8)

“The idols speak deceit, diviners see visions that lie; they tell dreams that are false, they give comfort in vain.  Therefore the people wander like sheep oppressed for lack of a shepherd.”  (Zechariah 10:2)

“Be careful to do everything I have said to you.  Do not invoke the names of other gods; do not let them be heard on your lips.  Do not bow down before their gods or worship them or follow their practices.  You must demolish them and break their sacred stones to pieces.  Do not make a covenant with them or with their gods.  Do not let them live in your land, or they will cause you to sin against Me, because the worship of their gods will certainly be a snare to you.” (Exodus 23:13,24,32,33)  (Also read all of Exodus 33)

“For I do not want you to be ignorant of the fact, brothers, that our forefathers were all under the cloud and that they all passed through the sea.  They were all baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea.  They all ate the same spiritual food and drank the same spiritual drink; for they drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.  Nevertheless, God was not pleased with most of them; their bodies were scattered over the desert.  Now these things occurred as examples, to keep us from setting our hearts on evil things as they did.  Do not be idolaters, as some of them were; as it is written: “The people sat down to eat and drink and got up to indulge in pagan revelry.”  We should not commit sexual immorality, as some of them did–and in one day twenty-three thousand of them died.  We should not test the Lord, as some of them did–and were killed by snakes.  And do not grumble, as some of them did–and were killed by the destroying angel.  These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the fulfillment of the ages has come.” (1 Corinthians 10:1-11)

“Do not be yoked together with unbelievers.  For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common?  Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?  What harmony is there between Christ and Belial?  What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?  What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols?  For we are the temple of the living God.  As God has said:  “I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people.”  “Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 6:14-17)
