WARNING YOU WITH TEARS SPECIAL EDITION – WARNING YOU WHAT’S AHEAD

INTRODUCTION

Even though I am presently not writing any more Warning You With Tears Wednesday posts, I decided that occasionally I need to alert you to some spiritually dangerous things that are coming up so that no one will be deceived, and so that you will be prepared to warn other Christians who may be easily led astray because they fail to test things against Scripture. Here are a few things that I would like to bring to your attention:

SPIRITUAL DANGER AHEAD FOR SEPTEMBER

 

1) It was brought to my attention that on this past Sunday, September 4th, 2016, Mother Teresa was declared a saint by Pope Francis:

The following article written by former Dominican priest for 22 years, Richard Bennett, has some very sad and disturbing information about Mother Teresa’s life and her beliefs. They clearly show that she did not have the peace that comes from knowing Jesus Christ and the Biblical gospel, and placing one’s trust in Jesus Christ alone for one’s salvation:

2) This morning as I was on Facebook for just a few short minutes, I discovered that there is going to be another prayer event taking place tonight in my area which is being presented in the name of “unity.” At this point after doing some research, it is not yet clear what type of churches are gathering together for prayer, but one thing is for sure. God’s Word is very clear about the unity and oneness that He desires..it is based on uniting with those who stand for Biblical truth and not with those who preach “another Jesus” and “another gospel.” (2 Corinthians 11:3,4, Galatians 1:6-9)

9/8/16 Here is an update for you concerning last night’s Pray Chicago:

I will first begin by saying that many of us who are Bible believing Christians are deeply grieved over the extreme increase in violence in many of our neighborhoods, and heartbroken because of the many innocent men, women, and children who have lost their lives due to gun violence, and we should be praying! However, when it comes to unity and oneness, as Christians we must never give in to compromise –no matter how good the reason for unity may appear to be! Sadly, by what can be seen on PrayChicago’s Facebook page, it certainly appears as though Moody Bible Institute has given in to compromise. In the first quick capture below you will see many people linking hands throughout Moody Bible Institute. In the second quick capture you will see this comment by the writer, Elizabeth Matthews, of FOX32 that should cause you to become concerned :

“Hundreds of people from all walks of life and religions came together Wednesday to simply pray.” (Emphasis is mine).

PrayChicago was just the beginning of a 77 day prayer campaign and continue throughout a total of 77 communities in the Chicago area.

3) Speaking of prayer events and unity, have you heard about the Mekudeshet Festival that is taking place right now in Jerusalem? It started September 4th and continues until September 23rd. Christians, Jews, and Muslims are gathering together at this event which has been called ‘AMEN–A HOUSE OF PRAYER FOR ALL BELIEVERS.’ I will refrain from sharing the many outrageous speculations that many have written about concerning what they believe will take place during this festival, but one thing is certain…we are definitely seeing the One World Religion continuing to form right before our eyes, and it’s all being done in the name of unity.

IS 2016 MEKUDESHET FESTIVAL LEADING TO A ONE WORLD RELIGION?

Please do not allow yourselves to become one of the many who have been deceived by these calls for unity that prey upon your emotions! As believers in Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, we must walk in the truth that is so clearly revealed in God’s Word, the Bible. We cannot have true unity with anyone unless they believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who came to this earth and lived the perfect, sinless life that we could never life and who died to give His life for all of us because of our sins. We cannot have true unity with anyone unless they believe the Biblical gospel…that Jesus Christ’s once for all sacrifice was sufficient to pay the debt for all of our sins. Each one of us must choose to place our trust in His death as full payment for our sins, and that He arose bodily from the dead proving that His sacrifice was accepted by God and that He was and is God. 

Jesus Christ made the bold statement that sets us as Christians apart from all other religions:

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6)

God’s Word declares Jesus Christ to be the only Mediator between God and men:

“For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.” (1 Timothy 2:5,6)

Regardless of these events calling for unity and loving one another by laying aside our differences, God’s Word says the following:

“I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.” (2 John 1:4)

“For I rejoiced greatly, when the brethren came and testified of the truth that is in thee, even as thou walkest in the truth. I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” (3 John 1:3,4)

“Sanctify them through thy truth; thy Word is truth.” (John 17:17)

 ^“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?  And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.” (2 Corinthians 6:14-18)

 

4) Steven Furtick, the pastor of Elevation Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, is having another Code Orange Revival starting September 9th and continues through September 18th. Some of the speakers include Joyce Meyer, Christine Caine, Craig Groeschel, Carl Lentz, and Louie Giglio:

With a list of speakers like that who are known to oftentimes twist God’s Word and to preach “another gospel” and “another Jesus,” (Galatians 1:6-9, 2 Corinthians 11:3,4) there can be no true Biblical revival. Just listen to the following video (and the ones that I posted further below) and you will understand why I can honestly say that. Also, when time allows, please consider reading some of the Related Posts further below, and please take a moment to pray for discernment before you do.

Although I do not agree with Chris Rosebrough of Fighting For The Faith on some important theological issues, I respect him and appreciate all that he does as he reviews  sermons and teachings of many popular preachers and teachers in order to help Christians see the extreme importance of testing what they say against Scripture, and to help us all to think Biblically and critically. I was not aware of anything unbiblical concerning Louie Giglio and anything that he had said until I heard many people express their serious concerns about what took place at the Passion Conference in 2012:

Louie Giglio was one of the speakers at the Passion 2012 Conference. When I heard it announced that the Passion 2013 Conference was soon to take place, I decided to send out a warning and wrote the following post in order to alert Christians to beware of what may take place at this Conference, as well. PASSION 2013 CONFERENCE – WILL THERE BE MORE MYSTICISM

I had never heard of Levi Lusko before, until someone brought to my attention the fact that he had preached at my former church, Harvest Bible Chapel, Rolling Meadows. After listening to his sermon and doing some research on him, I saw the need to send out a warning to hopefully reach some people who attend Harvest — and all Christians — so that they see the importance, once again, of ‘examining the Scriptures daily to see if what is being said is true.’ (Acts 17:11) When time allows, please consider reading the serious concerns that one should have about some of Levi Lusko’s teachings that I documented in the final portion of the following post that I wrote last year. This post also includes another sermon review by Chris Rosebrough in which he tests the teachings of  Craig Groeschel  (another speaker at the upcoming Code Orange Revival) against Scripture to clearly point out some of his unbiblical teachings that are in his sermons. HOW DISCERNING ARE YOU?

 

4) Beth Moore is having another Living Proof live event, and sadly, my former church of 14 1/2 years — Harvest Bible Chapel Rolling Meadows — began promoting this to their women way back in  March:

 

Yes, ladies, I know that Beth Moore has a way of being able to communicate with her audience on a very personal level, and she can make you laugh and even cry when she shares her stories with you, but please keep in mind that God’s Word warns us about spiritual deception and false teachers in the last days. (2 Peter 2:1-3, Romans 16:17, 1 Timothy 4:1-5, 2 Timothy 4:3, Matt. 7:15-20).

Can you honestly say that you test everything that she says at her events and in her books against Scripture as God’s Word shows us that we are to do? (Acts 17:11) (1 Thessalonians 5:21,22) If the pastor and leaders at your church are  among the many who sadly are promoting Beth Moore, when time allows please consider reading the following articles as well as some of the article that I posted the links to further below so that you will come to realize some of the errors in her teachings and some of the dangerous things that she has said:

As you can see from looking at the videos below, sadly, Steven Furtick chose known Modalist and Word of Faith/Prosperity preacher T D Jakes to be among those who spoke:

JOYCE MEYER AND OTHER FALSE TEACHERS

Pray and listen very carefully to what Beth Moore says in the following video to see if you can discern what she is actually saying:

When Steven Furtick  made the choice to have Word of Faith preacher and known Modalist speak at his Code Orange Revival back in 2012, that raised serious concerns for many Christians! A Modalist is someone who denies the doctrine of the Trinity — the belief that there are three distinct Persons in the Godhead, and yet only one God — and instead, a Modalist believes that God appeared in three different modes.

My former pastor, James MacDonald, invited T D Jakes to be one of the speakers at his Elephant Room ll Conference back at the end of January 2012, right before the Code Orange Revival. The fact that T D Jakes was declared by all of the pastors that took part in the Conference that night as now having a Biblical view of the Trinity, when he obviously did not, was the main reason that brought me to the point of finally leave Harvest Bible Chapel after 14 1/2 years. Taking a stand for Biblical truth must be that important to us as Christians that we will do whatever it takes to earnestly contend for the faith –even if it means leaving our church and our friends after being there for many, many years.

In the following video you will hear James White review much of what T D Jakes said that night in the Elephant Room ll Conference, and then you decide if Steven Furtick — and James MacDonald — can be trusted as men of God who preach the Word of God without apology and who faithfully protect the people in their church from false teachers.

Note: Even though I strongly disagree with James White and the position that he holds concerning reformed theology because these teachings do not line up with Scripture, I respect him and appreciate all that he does, especially when he debates Catholic theologians and Muslims. I deeply appreciate him for making this video which is how I came to realize that what took place that night during the Elephant Room ll Conference was not honoring to God in the least bit because they failed to address T D Jakes concerning his heretical Word of Faith teachings, and they left all in attendance that night to believe that T D Jakes now holds to the Biblical understanding of the Trinity when he does not.

Please be sure that you pray for discernment whenever you listen to any pastor or teacher share God’s Word with you so that you will never be deceived!

Although I have been trying to finish the next post in my new series (in which I am comparing the teachings found in the Catechism of the Catholic Church to the Catholic Bible in order to reach Catholics with the truly good news of the gospel), I am sorry to say that I will not be able to finish it by the end of the month as I had hoped, which, as hard as it is to believe, is today. Not only did I have to take care of some important business matters this month, but also because of all the research that I found necessary to put into this particular installment, I now realize that I will need at least another week in order to finish it. So I decided to spend some time putting this post together for you since it has been so long since I have written something to share with you besides a few Sermon Sunday posts.

I hope you learned from reading this post just how extremely importance it is to test everything that your favorite pastors and teachers are saying against the truth of God’s Word –the Bible. God has given us His very Words, so never lose sight of that amazing truth! Never grow tired of reading it, and never seek to have an “experience with God” as many Christian leaders are now leading you to believe that you can have. By doing so they are basically telling you that God’s Word is not sufficient, and they are leading many Christians who lack discernment right into the world of the occult!

MYSTICISM MONDAY – WARNING YOU OF HOW MYSTICISM IS NOW RAPIDLY ENTERING THE CHURCH AND DECEIVING MANY CHRISTIANS TODAY

Have you unknowingly been lured into New Age mystical practices by teachers claiming that certain “new ways to pray” will bring you closer to God? Have you signed up for classes in Spiritual Formation, or has your pastor been preaching on it? Have you been involved in “Christian“ Yoga, Centering Prayer, Contemplative Prayer, or Lectio Divina? Well, this series of posts in the new Category of posts that I have entitled, ‘MYSTICISM MONDAYS,‘ will attempt to not only peel back the layers of the many forms of spiritual deception that have been entering the church in order to reveal them to you as being lies of the enemy of our souls, but also the intention of these posts is to present you with the truth of God’s Word in order to expose the spiritual dangers of these practices.

Lord willing, at least once a month on a Monday, I will be sharing teachings with you from Christian experts on the subject, some of whom have even been personally involved with these dangerous practices. All of these teachings that I will be presenting to you will focus on many Scriptures; those who speak on these topics will not just be talking about these practices, because it’s only the truth of God’s Word that will expose the dangers of these practices and set a deceived person free.

Lord willing, when time allows, I will be writing many posts in the future zeroing in on specific Christian programming and Christian teachers who are promoting these deceptive practices, (I recently posted a very lengthy one concerning Moody Radio which I will continue to update until completed) but since my time is getting rather limited these days because of other important responsibilities that I now have, I will oftentimes simply be sharing a video or an article with you.

When time allows, I truly hope and pray that you will take the time to listen to these messages or read these articles, as well as read the upcoming posts that — Lord willing — I will be writing on these important topics so that you can be aware of these false teachings that are deceiving many Christians –possibly even you.

Please be sure that you test the teachings of all those whom you listen to against Scripture as God’s Word shows us that we are to do (Acts 17:11) so that you will never be deceived.

I hope and pray that all of you who are Bible believing followers of Jesus Christ are constantly testing what your pastors and teachers are presenting to you against the truth of God’s Word as we are shown in Scripture to do (Acts 17:11) no matter how long they have been in ministry, because many pastors and teachers are now embracing and presenting New Age mystical practices to their people through things such as yoga, as well as  though meditation practices which often times are found in Spiritual Formation classes and are referred to as Contemplative Prayer, silent prayer, Lectio Divina, Taize, etc.

“These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” (Acts 17:11)

Mysticism in the church is one of the many ways that Satan is now using to bring about the oneness and unity that is being promoted in the world to bring about the One World Religion. Sadly, many pastors and teachers lack discernment and have now become tools in Satan’s hands to promote these mystical practices. We must keep in mind what God says in His Word:

“Be sober; be vigilant; because your adversary, the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)

“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil.” (1 Thessalonians 5:21,22)

“Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.” (2 Corinthians 2:11) 

Are you a follower of  a man (or woman) and their ministry? Or are you a follower of Jesus Christ? Will you be a Berean and examine the Scriptures daily to see if what they are saying is true? Will you walk in the light and in truth and leave, if necessary, if Yoga and other mystical practices  are being promoted at your church? Or are the relationships that you have developed over the years while you have attended your church more important to you than being obedient to God and the truth presented in His Word? True followers of Jesus Christ will follow Him –no matter what the cost.

“For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in all things.” (2 Corinthians 2:9)

Now for today’s very short, but very important, Mysticism Monday:

This post has to be very short because my condo is still rather messy, and  as I am writing this I am eating my cereal out of a container meant for left overs, and eating it with a fork. That’s what happens when a Berean and detective-at-heart is filled with an urgency to warn other Christians by spending countless hours writing and updating posts out of a desire to reach other Christians in order to emphasize the importance of testing the teachings of Christian pastors, leaders, and writers against the truth of God’s Word so they will not be deceived! At least that’s my excuse reason.

WARNING YOU WITH TEARS WEDNESDAY

Welcome to another post in the series of posts that I have entitled, Warning You With Tears Wednesdays. Lord willing, at least once a month on Wednesdays I will be writing and sharing one of these posts with you so that I can make you all aware of some important information that I come across on the Internet that you may not have heard about.

Since I knew that I would soon be starting a new part-time job (and I did start in June) and that my free time would then be somewhat limited, I was trying to think of something that I could write on a regular basis that would be short and to the point (at least that was my intention). And since I am a detective-at-heart and desire to make you all aware of the importance of testing things that pastors and teachers say (and do) in light of Scripture (Acts 17:11), the idea to do these posts — as well as the name — came to my mind in November of 2014, based on Acts 20:26-31:

“For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God. Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which He bought with His own blood. I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. #2 Here’s Carl Teichrib’s most recent post. Notice, once again, how the emphasis is on “oneness” which permeates the messages in the New Age/New Spirituality Movement. #4 In my previous post concerning Oprah’s miniseries, BELIEF, I posted a video of Marianne Williamson sharing what she believes.  Marianne W.  wrote the book A Return To Love: Reflections on the Principles of A Course In Miracles, and strongly promotes the book A Course In Miracles that was written by atheist, Helen Shucman after she heard an inner  voice claiming to be Jesus telling her, “This is a course in miracles. #5 For those of you who read one of my previous FALSE TEACHER FRIDAYS – LEARNING THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING A BEREAN in which I focused on Singapore’s mega-church pastor, Kong Hee, you may recall that I also shared with you how not only was Kong Hee arrested in 2012, but also that Kong and five other members of his church were currently on trial facing a possible sentence of twenty years in prison, if convicted. Well, this morning on Facebook someone shared a report from Fox News stating that the verdict is in, and you can read about it HERE.

This verse came to mind when I heard the verdict:

“If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. For it is time for judgment to begin with God’s household; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God?  (1 Peter 4:14-17)

#6 Because of what many of us are witnessing taking place in our churches and in many other churches today, the article below is a must read for every Christian to determine if their church is “free from cult like tendencies.”

I am just one Christian (among many) who sees the need to not only write posts in order to remind other Christians of the importance of testing the teachings of every pastor and teacher in light of Scripture, but also I see the need to write posts in order to urge Christians to follow Jesus Christ alone, and not follow any man (or woman) and their ministry.

There is such a need for Christians to constantly pray for discernment because of teachers like Beth Moore due to the fact that she is not only leading many Christians into mysticism, but also oftentimes she presents distorted teachings like this one which can cause a Christian to possibly reject the needed warnings given to them by a sister or brother-in-Christ if they are led to believe what she is implying in this video:

MYSTICISM MONDAYS – WARNING YOU OF HOW MYSTICISM IS NOW RAPIDLY ENTERING THE CHURCH AND DECEIVING MANY CHRISTIANS

Have you unknowingly been lured into New Age mystical practices by teachers claiming that certain “new ways to pray” will bring you closer to God? Have you signed up for classes in Spiritual Formation? Have you been involved in Centering Prayer, Contemplative Prayer, or Lectio Divina ? Have you read books or taken part in “Bible studies” that focused on books written by people who claimed to teach you how to hear God speak to you, instead of focusing on books in the Bible? Well, this new series of posts in the new Category of posts that I have entitled ‘MYSTICISM MONDAYS‘ will attempt to peel back the layers of spiritual deception and present you with the truth of God’s Word that will expose the dangers of these practices. Lord willing, at least once a month on a Monday, I will be sharing teachings with you from Christian experts on the subject, some of whom have even been personally involved with these dangerous practices. All of these teachings that I will be presenting to you will focus on many Scriptures; those who speak on these topics will not just be talking about these practices, because it’s only the truth of God’s Word that will expose the dangers of these practices and set a deceived person free.

Lord willing, when time allows, I will be writing many posts in the future zeroing in on specific Christian programming and Christian teachers who are promoting these deceptive practices, but since my time is getting rather limited these days because of other important responsibilities that I have, I will oftentimes simply be sharing a video with you.

When time allows, I truly hope and pray that you will take the time to listen to these messages and read the upcoming posts on this important topic so that you can be aware of these false teachings that are deceiving many Christians –possibly even you.

Please test the teachings of all those whom you listen to against Scripture as God’s Word shows us that we are to do. (Acts 17:11)

(Updated 9/8/15) Last year I discovered after the fact, that my former church for over 14 1/2 years, Harvest Bible Chapel Rolling Meadows, hosted a ‘Beth Moore simulcast’ at their Lake Zurich location:This didn’t surprise me, since Beth Moore’s Bible studies were always  highly promoted while I attended Harvest (June 1997-January 2012), and I know for a fact that they still are. But since the simulcast had already taken place, I decided not to write about it.

However, two weeks ago I began to wonder if there was going to be a Beth Moore simulcast this year, and if so, I also wondered if HBC would once  again be sponsoring it. Thanks to Glenn Chatfield who writes at THE WATCHMAN’S BAGPIPES, I discovered while reading his post, ‘RANDOM ABERRATIONS, APOSTASIES, AND HERESIES’,  that indeed there is going to be “another simulcast for churches across the nation.” After searching to see if HBC would once again be one of the churches that would be sponsoring this event, this is what I found:

Will your church be bringing Beth Moore to your community on September 12, 2015? If so, please take time to listen and to read the very important information that I have added to this post for you below. Some of the following videos are excerpts from ‘James Robison’s Awaken Now Conference’ that took place in January of 2014.

Yes, Beth Moore is a very gifted speaker, but I simply ask you to please put aside the feelings that you have about her, and pray and ask God to give you discernment before watching the videos below, as well as before you read the articles that I added for you under Further Reading. If you plan on signing up for this simulcast, please make certain that you pray for discernment, and be a Berean (Acts 17:11) and test all that she says against God’s Word.

Beth Moore: “We so desperately need, so desperately need a fresh awakening…”

Beth Moore: “Be prepared for scoffers.”

In the following video starting at the 2:38-3:39 minute mark, you will hear Beth Moore talk about the scoffers who will come and speak out against the awakening and downpours; the outpouring that she believes God is telling her is coming:

“What God began to show me, is that it would not just come from the…mean spirited. The scoffers…I believe that God put on my heart…please test the spirit, pray and see if this…is confirmed to you in prayer and in the study of the Word.. I believe that He placed it on my heart that the scoffers will have an alternative answer for everything; an alternative for every single thing we see…there will be an alternative. They will not see it as the hand of God; an alternate answer. Unity will be called defection. Brokenness will be called instability. Grace will be called compromise. And the genuinely prophetic will be called false teaching. You see if this does not happen.”

 

In other words, Beth Moore is claiming that she is receiving extra Biblical revelation from God, and those of us who stand for Biblical truth and test things in light of Scripture will be the ones looked at as “the scoffers” if something does come and we see the need to warn other Christians that this “outpouring” is not of God because it does not line up with God’s Word. Those who choose to listen to her message and do not test her words against Scripture are having their minds manipulated/prepared to see those of us who oppose this so-called outpouring from God as the ones who are in the wrong.

Today, more than ever before, we must be certain that we are followers of Jesus Christ, and not a follower of any man (or woman) and their ministry. We must know the voice of our Shepherd and follow Him and Him alone, because spiritual deception will become so intense that only those of us who are truly following Him and reading His Word and are aware of the many spiritually deceptive traps waiting to lure us into its grips, will be protected from being deceived. 

Could the following videos be an indication of the kind of “unity” and “grace” that “God put on her heart?”

 

 

 

 

 

 

When time allows, please consider listening to the information presented in the following Playlist which compares the teachings of Catholicism  to Biblical Christianity. I hope and pray that you will then realize what many of us have already come to realize, which is that there can be no unity with Catholics because many of their teachings not only contradict God’s Word, but also the Sacrifice of the Mass denies the sufficiency of Jesus’ once for all propitiatory sacrifice.

I was a former Catholic who attended twelve years of Catholic school, went through Catechism classes, made my First Holy Communion, was Confirmed, and went to Mass thousands of times.  As I began to read the Catholic Bible and compare the teachings of the Catechism of the Catholic Church to the Catholic Bible, I came to an understanding of the sufficiency of Jesus’ death as completely satisfying the wrath of God that He had towards me because of my sins. The joy that filled my heart after God helped me to see what Jesus accomplished as He suffered and died in my place, was buried, and arose again, made me shudder in horror as God opened my ears to hear Jesus being called a ‘victim’ during the Sacrifice of the Mass. Fear and bondage kept me there for another year, but the truth of God’s Word set me free, and His peace released me from the fear that held me in its grip for the many years that I was a Catholic. It is my prayer that many Catholics will come to know the truth, and that the truth of His Word will set them free and fill them with joy and peace, as well. Not only is the line between genuine and counterfeit Christianity being blurred, but also New Age/New Spirituality practices are being welcomed into the church and are being fully embraced by many Christians who are unaware of the fact that these “new ways to pray” are leading them down a path to spiritual deception. The only way that we as Christians can tell the difference is to read and study God’s Word so that we will know it so well that we will be able to discern truth from error as soon as we hear it.

Jesus warned about false teachers and of the spiritual deception that would take place in the last days, and His Word also says that it will come even from among those who say they are believers. (Acts 20:25-31) So why is it that many today fail or even refuse to test the messages of their favorite Bible teachers such as Beth Moore in light of  Scripture as we are shown to do in His Word? (Acts 17:11) (1 Thessalonians 5:21,22)

Besides knowing God’s Word very well, it’s also very important to be ‘aware of Satan’s devices ‘ (2 Corin. 11:2b) so that we will not be led down one of the many spiritually deceptive paths that are causing multitudes of  Christians to become deceived today. That’s why I am so thankful for ministries such as Lighthouse Trails Research, Herescope, Deception in the Church, and many others ministries that expose things such as Contemplative Prayer, Spiritual Formation, Lectio Divina, and the many other unbiblical, mystical practices that are being presented to Christians today as ways to connect with God on a more personal and intimate level.

The terms “awakening” and “awaken” as well as the call for ‘unity’ that Beth Moore and others who profess to be Christians are speaking about, are also echoing throughout the world of the occult. Below you will find some examples of how these terms are permeating our world today. The unity that they speak of is not in any way related to the “unity” that Jesus spoke of in John 17, but rather a unity in order to achieve higher levels of consciousness related to the New Age Movement, in which the ultimate goal is to ‘awaken’ you to your own divinity. (Lord willing, I will be writing about this in great detail in an upcoming post).

The following video plays on a person’s emotions and speaks about having a ‘spiritual awakening.’  Roger Ingram, who created this video says:

“One night I decide to dedicate myself completely to answering my biggest question: Does God really exist? Is there anything truly greater in this world?”

While it is true that many today have those questions,  sadly this video go on to briefly share about the experience that some people had in their ‘spiritual awakening.’  Obviously none of them were Biblical, and all of them focused on occultic practices such as ‘out of body experiences’ and experiences that brought about feelings of ‘pure love.’

 

In these videos, Andrew Strom shares how the Kundalini awakening that those involved in the New Age Movement speaks of, experience the same feelings of pure love when the serpent power that is said to lie at the base of the spine is awakened:

 

Christian writer and speaker, Warren B Smith, who was once deeply involved in the New Age Movement, gives an excellent teaching on more ways that the New Age Movement is now infiltrating the church by speaking about “oneness” and “unity,” as well as ‘The Shack,’ Contemplative Prayer, and much more, in these videos:

 CONCERNING BETH MOORE’S INVOLVEMENT IN MYSTICISM

Below is a screen shot that I captured from a video that clearly shows you what the focus of this conference was by the bold statement that was placed on banners that were hung across the stage. This video has now been removed from YouTube. (UPDATE 9/8/15: See video under Related Videos for another one I recently found). The following video will address this and the fact that during the Passion Conference 2012 the audience was told to “Pause and be still and allow Jesus to speak to you,” and the dangers of seeking to have God ‘speak to us’ when He speaks to us through His written Word. God has already spoken to us through His one and only Son, Jesus Christ   –the Word made flesh. (Read Hebrews 1:1-3 and John 1:1-5)

 

As you can see from the quick capture below, the researchers at Lighthouse Trails have been strongly warning about Beth Moore’s involvement in and promotion of mysticism:

ANALYZING SOME OF BETH MOORE’S MESSAGES

 

 

IN CLOSING

If your church is sponsoring Beth Moore’s simulcast, or presenting Beth Moore ‘Bible studies’ for the women at your church, and you share the   serious concerns that many of us have about her teachings, consider   sharing your valid concerns with the leadership at your church. Be prepared though. I have heard of many women sharing how their valid concerns were ignored when they brought information to back up what they were saying. No matter how they may react to what you say, just remain faithful to ‘earnestly contend for the faith.’

If you have come to the point of placing your trust in Jesus Christ alone for your salvation and live to simply honor Him in all that you do and say and stand for Biblical truth, you will one day hear Him say to you, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” If we keep that in mind, it makes the rejection and loneliness that we sometimes feel from other Christians who refuse to listen to our warnings less painful.

If you have not yet come to the point of placing your trust in Jesus Christ alone for your salvation, I pray that you will take the time to seek God in His Word and ask Him to reveal the truth to you. Your eternity is at stake. There is no second chance after death. There is a heaven and a hell, and Jesus paid your debt to sin in full. God’s Word says that “now is the day of salvation.” (2 Corinthians 6:2) Tomorrow is promised to no one.

Do not place your trust in the teachings of men (or women) or of a certain church or religious system. Look to Jesus Christ alone for your salvation, and read His Word alone for the truth that will set you free. Test the teachings of all whom you choose to listen to against God’s Word, because spiritual deception will continue to intensify as the return of Jesus Christ continues to draw closer and closer. Are you ready?

WARNING YOU WITH TEARS WEDNESDAY

Welcome to another post in the series of posts that I have entitled, Warning You With Tears Wednesdays. Lord willing, at least once a month on Wednesdays I will be writing and sharing one of these posts with you so that I can make you all aware of some important information that I come across on the Internet that you may not have heard about.
Since I knew that I would soon be starting a new part-time job (and I did in June) and that my free time would then be somewhat limited, I was trying to think of something that I could write on a regular basis that would be short and to the point (at least that was my intention). And since I am a detective-at-heart and desire to make you all aware of the importance of testing things that pastors and teachers say (and do) in light of Scripture (Acts 17:11), the idea to do these posts — as well as the name — came to my mind in November of 2014, based on Acts 20:26-31:

“For I have not hesitated to proclaim to you the whole will of God. Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which He bought with His own blood. I know that after I leave, savage wolves will come in among you and will not spare the flock. Even from your own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them. So be on your guard! Remember that for three years I never stopped warning each of you night and day with tears.”

So with all of that in mind, here is what I’d like to share with you in today’s WARNING YOU WITH TEARS WEDNESDAY:

Those of you who are Bible believing Christians and are not only stunned at the acceleration of world events, the rise of moral decay, and the apostasy that we are witnessing among many professing Christians these days, but also are shocked at the fact that many Christians are embracing the many mystical, New Age practices that are entering many churches these days, you are probably as certain as I am that the return of Jesus Christ may be sooner than any of us could even imagine! Just consider these new hi-tech devises that are enticing people to buy into these ideas! Sadly, many will be seduced into purchasing them without even giving any thought to the fact that they are revealing highly personal information to more people than they realize, and they don’t stop to think of the many possible consequences! As you read these articles, keep in mind what God’s Word reveals to us in Chapter 13 of the Book of Revelation!

And do you know that discerning sense that you get when you first hear about something  Christian related becoming very popular, such as the above  video, as well as Purpose Driven Life, The Shack, and Jesus Calling? Well, as a friend played the above video for me a couple of years ago, I sensed something was not quite right, but I never got around to doing research on it. Many are baffled by the decision that Pastor James MacDonald of Harvest Bible Chapel recently made when he announced at the Southern Baptist Convention that his church has voted to affiliate with the Southern Baptist Convention. With all of that in mind, a word of caution goes out to those of you who attend Harvest: Since James presents many of Beth Moore’s Bible book studies at Harvest and since he thinks so highly of her, and in light of the fact that James has been involved with Rick Warren at previous conferences (HERE is one for an example) the bond between all of them may be getting tighter. If Rick Warren or Beth Moore ever show up as guest speakers, I suggest that you run — not walk — to the nearest exit and do not go back!

And what would you do if you found out that, in the name of religious freedom, the school that your child is attending is allowing devil worshipers to hand out coloring books filled with their beliefs? 

One of my dear friends who moved out of state called me two weeks ago. After we caught up on what has been happening in our lives, she asked me if I have heard of the term transabled. When I told her that I had not, she proceeded to explain to me what it was. I was horrified! I was also filled with a deep sense of  anger because I see this as just another way that Satan is using in his attempt to destroy God’s greatest creation –mankind. Because we are created in the image and likeness of God, Satan is resorting to doing all that he can to pervert and to destroy as many as he can. So many precious teens and others are already in the state of confusion with what is being presented to them concerning their gender, and now this! For those of you who, because of deep hurt and anger welling up within you for how you feel about what you may have done, or what has been done to you or a loved one, and because you have also lost all hope you have resorted to inflicting pain upon yourself through cutting  yourself or harming yourself in some way in an attempt to deal with your pain, please read these articles, as well as the Scriptures that I posted below:

HARVEST BIBLE CHAPEL LEADERSHIP, CHRISTIAN LEADERS, AND THE LACK OF BIBLICAL DISCERNMENT

In the search for choosing Christian teachers to build up the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:11-15) it seems that some Christian leaders at Harvest Bible Chapel Rolling Meadows are among the many today who have forgotten the importance of Biblical discernment. Some may believe that since a person is a professing Christian and a gifted and popular speaker and Bible teacher, as well, that their words and teachings must then be trustworthy.  But what happened to Biblical discernment and the commands in Scripture that we are to test the words of men — and women — in light of Scripture?  (Acts 17:11) Have pastors forgotten their important roles to be shepherds who are to watch over their sheep and how Scripture warns that they are to ‘keep watch over themselves and their flock,’ and that Scripture says that ‘even from our own number men will arise and distort the truth in order to draw away disciples after them,’ and how we are to ‘be on guard?’  (Acts 20)

Some of those questions — and more — came to mind when, on Sunday, March 9th, 2014, I saw on Harvest Bible Chapel Rolling Meadows ‘weekly sermon’ page that they were informing women that a new DVD series by Priscilla Shirer entitled ‘GIDEON: YOUR WEAKNESS GOD’S STRENGTH‘ would be starting soon, as you can see from the ‘screen capture’ below:

Great title, for sure!  But this is the question that all of us need to answer: Does everything she teach line up with Scripture?  Well, since the reason for writing this post is to warn those at Harvest Bible Chapel (as well as others) about Bible teacher, author, and speaker, Priscilla Shirer, the answer to that question is: No.

In the past I have read some posts written about Priscilla Shirer warning about some of the unbiblical things she teaches, as well as some of the false teachers she associates with, but I couldn’t quite remember all the details, so I decided to do my own investigation by listening to some of her videos so I could then share with you what I found after testing what she said against Scripture. (Acts 17:11)

One thing I learned about her that I wasn’t aware of before, is that her father is Christian Pastor, speaker, and author, Dr. Tony Evans, who also has a radio program on Moody radio.  I also discovered that she was one of the  speakers at Moody’s ‘Founders Week‘ this past February 2014, and that she preached from Chapter 6 of Deuteronomy to a large group of women –and men.  (Hmmm. Doesn’t God’s Word say in 1 Timothy 3:14,15, and 2:11-15 that a woman is not to be put in a position of teaching men?)  Please consider taking some time to listen to the videos I posted below, and think carefully about what she is saying in light of Scripture and see what conclusions you come to.  Yes, she presents herself very well, and holds her audience’s attention, but does she focus on the truth recorded in Scripture?  Or does she — at times — share with her predominantly Christian audience something entirely different –and even unbiblical?

First of all, if any of you are not aware of what ‘Contemplative/Centering Prayer‘ is, I would like to ask you to please take the time to read this excellent article written by Pastor Gary Gilley of Southern View Chapel, so that you are aware of what to look for when you listen to Priscilla Shirer and others (such as Beth Moore) who, in different degrees, promote this unbiblical method of  so-called ‘prayer’ that teaches you ‘how to hear ‘God’ speak to you’:

Though we are not to judge the heart and motives of a Christian, or where they stand concerning their relationship with Jesus Christ, we are told in  Scripture that we are to ‘make a right judgment,’ and that we are to ‘examine the Scriptures daily to see if what is being said (by those who claim to speak for Christ) is true,’ and how we are to ‘test all things and hold fast to what is true,’  (John 7:24, Acts 17:11, 1 Thessalonians 5:21,22) and we are also told to “earnestly contend for the faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints.”  (Jude 3)

As you can see from the list of books that Priscilla reads, some of them are: ‘The Practice of the Presence of God,’ by Brother Lawrence, ‘Prayer: Finding the Heart’s True Home,’ by Richard Foster, and ‘When the Soul Listens‘ by Jan Johnson.  All three of these writers heavily promote ‘Contemplative Prayer.’

Sadly, the emphasis today seems to be growing more and more on having ‘experiences with God’ rather than wanting to take the time to study God’s Word in context and teaching it that way, as well.

**UPDATED 3-13-14 1:22 P.M.  Because there is obviously a shift taking place from learning about God through His Word to seeking to ‘hear God speak,’ it is very obvious now why so many are easily being led into accepting unbiblical and mystical practices such as ‘Contemplative/Centering Prayer.’  But there is no excuse for any Christian to fall for these spiritually deceptive practices if we stay in God’s Word and test everything in light of Scripture and become informed about these unbiblical practices. There are many good websites with great information on these topics. Personally, I highly recommend the writings of: PASTOR GARY GILLEY,   LIGHTHOUSE TRAILS,  HERESCOPE, and APPRISING MINISTRIES, because they are Biblical and write in depth about all of these unbiblical practices, as well as expose those who promote them. But as always, please make sure that you test everything against Scripture! (Acts 17:11, 1 Thessalonians 5:21,22)

I am sure that Priscilla is probably a lovely person, but what she sometimes presents in her teachings can be very misleading, and has the potential of leading many Christians away from Biblical truth and into unbiblical ‘new age’ mysticism!  To hear a teacher present to you that ‘you can hear God personally speak to you’ is to imply that God’s Word is no longer sufficient, and will lead many away from Biblical truth and into ‘spiritual deception.‘  (Such as Sarah Young is doing through her ‘Jesus Calling‘ devotional).

Harvest Bible Chapel and other Christian leaders must not only make sure that they teach solid Biblical truth, but also they must make sure that the teachers they invite do as well, and that the Bible Studies they present to their people focus on God’s Word and that they believe in the sufficiency of Scripture and teach that God’s Word is all we need to come to know God in a very deep and personal way, and that none of them promote unbiblical mystical practices.  [Which reminds me to warn all of you at HBCRM that James MacDonald will be speaking at a Pastor’s Conference in June entitled ‘SHOW US YOUR GLORY,‘ along with Francis Chan and —Rick Warren!  About this conference we are told that many…

“…have been working, praying and planning to create a meeting where the presence of God is experienced in a life changing powerful way.”  (Emphasis is mine). 

And since Rick Warren promotes ‘Contemplative Prayer,’ is it possible that some of their plans may include unbiblical mystical practices since they desire to  ‘experience the presence of God?’  Lord willing, I may write on that after it takes place –if I am somehow able to view that conference. As I mentioned in a couple of my other posts, ‘we are seeing James becoming more and more involved with Rick Warren,’ and that gives many of us good reasons to become seriously concerned and equally motivated to pray even more for James!

Please continue to pray for James and all those in leadership, not only at Harvest Bible Chapel Rolling Meadows, but also for all Christian pastors and teachers.  Pray discernment for them and  that they would seek God in His Word and not be led astray by those who promote unbiblical ways to “hear from God.”

Pray discernment for all Christians so that they will hunger for God’s Word, and pray that the Holy Spirit will ‘guide them into all truth,’  (John 16:13) so they will not be led into spiritual deception.  God’s Word warns us in 2 Timothy 4:3 and 1 Timothy 4:1:

“For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine.  Instead to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.” 

“The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.”

That time is clearly upon us!  Please do not be deceived!  Please…

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” ( 2 Timothy 2:15)

BEWARE OF ‘BETH MOORE’S DANGEROUS BIBLE TWISTING’

As you can hear in the video posted above, (1/6/14 I’m sorry…just noticed this video is now made ‘private,’ and unfortunately there is no other copies of this video to post) Pastor James MacDonald, senior pastor of Harvest Bible Chapel Rolling Meadows, thinks very highly of Beth Moore, and calls her studies “pretty phenomenal.”   And because I have recently learned that Harvest Bible Chapel Rolling Meadows (my previous church for almost 15 years) is presently featuring a Beth Moore book as their focus for one of their ‘small groups,’ (and they have also chosen many of her books in the past –and probably presently — as the topic for some of their Bible Studies, as well) I found it now necessary to be one among many others who are expressing their concerns about Beth Moore to warn those of you who are avid followers of hers, the importance of testing what she says against Scripture. 

As many solid Bible teachers say, “The first key to proper Biblical interpretation is context, context, context!”  We must not take a person’s word for what a certain passage means, but rather go to Scripture and read the surrounding verses as well, in order to get a clear and proper understanding of what that text is actually saying.

Beth Moore is definitely a gifted speaker, but those of us who are Christians are commanded to ‘test all things,’ and to ‘hold fast to what is true.’  (1Thessalonians 5:21,22)

We are also shown in Scripture to ‘test what is said by those who claim to speak for God against Scripture to see if what is being said is true’:

“Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.” (Acts 17:11)

So with that in mind, I plead with those of you who have been caught up into Beth Moore’s teachings and captivated by her charming personality and who consider yourselves to be one of her faithful followers, to pray for discernment and please listen to Chris Rosebrough of ‘Fighting For The Faith’ and ‘Pirate Christian Radio,’ as he gives his Biblical analysis of one of her messages in the video posted at the link below.  Please be sure to open up your Bible and follow along to see if what is being said is really true:

JUDGING

For those of you who may accuse me of judging Beth Moore, I want you to know that even though we as Christians are not to judge a person’s heart or their intentions, we are supposed to judge/test what she says — as well as what others say, who claim to preach and teach God’s Word — in light of Scripture, and we are also to expose those who teach false doctrines.  Again, I will cite these verses: Acts 17:11, 1 Thessalonians 5:21,22

“Stop judging by mere appearances and make a right judgment.” (John 7:24)

“I have written to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people–not at all meaning the people of this world who are immoral, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters.  In that case you would have to leave this world.  But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler.  With such a man do not even eat.  What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church?  Are you not to judge those inside?  God will judge those outside.  “Expel the wicked man from among you.” (1 Corinthians 5:9-12)

Lord willing, I will post more information on Beth Moore concerning her promotion of ‘mysticism’ some time in the future, but now I am trying to finish the poem I am presently writing, entitled: ‘RISE UP!’

God’s Word is extremely important for a person to read so that one might not only come to the understanding of the fact that we are all wretched and depraved sinners and can never earn our way into heaven by our own righteous deeds (Romans 10:3, Galatians 2:21, Ephesians Philippians 3:9) which are like filthy rags to God (Isaiah 64:6), but also so that we might come to discover the love and mercy of God presented to us in the gospel. (John 3:16,17, Romans 5:8, 1 John 4:9,10 Titus 3:4-7) For those of us who will admit that we are nothing but wretched sinners fully deserving of the wrath of God, and will repent (turn from our sin) and receive the complete atoning work that Jesus Christ accomplished for us — when He bore our sins and took God’s full wrath intended for us upon Himself when He died in our place on the cross — we can be fully forgiven for all our sins –no matter what we have done.

God has also given us His Word to protect us from being spiritually deceived. We are told to ‘examine the Scriptures daily to see if what is being said is true,’ (Acts 17:11) and to ‘test all things and hold on to the good, and to avoid every kind of evil.’ (1 Thessalonians 5:21,22) Addressing the disciples questions, about ‘the sign of His coming and the end of the age,’ the first thing Jesus said was, “Watch out that no one deceives you.” (Matthew 24:4) There are numerous unbiblical, mystical practices being promoted in many churches today, and some Christians are being led into spiritual deception without even realizing it. Contemplative Prayer, Lectio Divina, soaking prayer, Ignatian Practices, and walking ‘prayer’ labyrinths, are just a few of some of the many occultic practices being introduced into the church and are being accepted without question by many unsuspecting Christians as ‘new ways to connect with God.’ (Search APPRISING MINISTRIES, CHRISTIAN RESEARCH NETWORK,   DO NOT BE SURPRISED, LIGHTHOUSE TRAILS RESEARCH, and you can also read the information I linked to on my WARNING YOU WITH TEARS poem, and especially all the information and videos I added on ‘AN ANCHOR FOR MY SOUL.’

Is it possible that Satan could use the reading of God’s Word — such as in Lectio Divina — as a way to lead many Christians into spiritual deception? Scripture clearly shows us in Matthew 4 and Luke 4 in the account of Jesus being tempted by the devil in the desert, that the devil knows God’s Word very well:

“The devil led Him to Jerusalem and had Him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If You are the Son of God,” he said, “throw Yourself down from here. For it is written: ‘ “He will command His angels concerning You to guard You carefully; they will lift You up in their hands, so that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’ “

God’s Word warns us in 1 Peter 5:8 to…

“Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”

So since Christians are warned that ‘our enemy’ is seeking to devour us,’ what better way could he choose than to use a way that seems so innocent as the reading of God’s Word as a means to lead us astray and into spiritual deception and the occult. In Lectio Divina, God’s Word is read, and then a time of silence follows, and people are told to ‘be still, and let God — or God’s Word — speak to you.’  That’s where the danger lies; sitting in silence and waiting for God to speak, when in fact He has already spoken all that we need to hear and to know, and it is recorded in His Word, the Bible. God’s Word tells us in Hebrews Chapter 1:1,2:

“In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days He has spoken to us by His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things and through whom He made the universe.”

Everything we need to know from God has been recorded for us in His Word, and spoken through His one and only Son, Jesus Christ. There are no new revelations from God; the canon of Scripture is now closed. Leaving our mind still allows us to hear from our own imaginations, or even from demonic spirits just waiting to speak something to us to lead us astray.

This past weekend, July 28th and 29th, Harvest Bible Chapel Elgin, had, what they referred to as, an ‘Ephesian Service.’ (Watch video at first link above). This service was viewed by the Aurora, Chicago North, Crystal Lake, Niles, North Shore, and Rolling Meadows campuses, as well. There were six speakers, each taking turns reading one chapter. Then they ended the service with a ‘Time Of Meditation.’ Although I was not there because of the fact that after attending Harvest Bible Chapel Rolling Meadows for almost 15 years, I left right after the Elephant Room 2 Conference (please consider reading my post WARNING YOU WITH TEARS for details that I continue to update when time allows) I can tell you that this ‘Ephesian Service’ is not the first time that Scripture was read out loud (though not a complete book of the Bible, as in the ‘Ephesian Service’) and then a time of silence followed. Although this could have been just an innocent time of reflection on God’s Word,it greatly concerns me because of the fact that James MacDonald has said that ‘Beth Moore’s Bible studies are “pretty phenominal…” (as you will hear him say in the following video)

…and her Bible studies have been a part of Harvest for many years. Therefore it should not come as a surprise if this misuse of God’s Word that Beth Moore is involved in, known as ‘Lectio Divina,’ could possibly be starting to take place at Harvest. (Compare the very first video above where Beth Moore is reading the Scriptures, to Harvest Elgin’s Ephesians service at the very first link above, and notice the similarities. Then please read this information on Lectio Divina, written by Pastor Gary Gilley at Southern View Chapel: SACRED READING LECTIO DIVINA as well as the information here on Beth Moore written by Erin Benziger from ‘Do Not Be Surprised.’ 

Because of the high view that James MacDonald has of Beth Moore, and also because Richard Foster’s book, ‘Celebration Of Discipline’ and Gary Thomas’ book ‘Sacred Marriage,’ are both on Harvest’s ‘recommended reading list,’ and both books promote ‘Contemplative Prayer,’ could it be possible that James MacDonald now sees ‘Lectio Divina’ and ‘Contemplative Prayer’ as something Biblical and is beginning to incorporate these practices into the services, therefore unknowingly leading those who attend into these mystical practices not realizing they are unbiblical?  Or does he see these practices as some other Christians do; revived monastic practices done by mystics in the past, and viewed now as ‘new ways to connect with God,’ and knowingly leading those who attend into mysticism, not realizing these practices are occultic in nature?

Further concerns come also due to the fact that in the ‘5G prayer guide’ (that I received on the night of October 5, 2011 when I attended the Vision Night at the Rolling Meadows campus, as did all who attended a ‘5G Vision meeting’) there are many ‘prayer exercises’ presented in this booklet for attendees of Harvest to do in order to ‘prepare their heart for what God desires to do in them personally and as a church,’ as stated on Page 3 in the booklet. Here is one example of a ‘prayer exercise’ that is found on page 37:

1. Prayer Exercise: Pray God’s Word. Praying God’s Word affirms God’s truth, aligns our prayers with His will, and expands our prayer language. Praying Scripture is not as difficult as you may think. Here are several ways to pray scripture. You can repeat one of the prayers in the Bible word-for-word. The Lord’s Prayer is an obvious example. But you can also pray a psalm, one of the prayers of Paul, and even passages from Revelation.”  (Emphasis is mine).

Doesn’t God’s Word warn us about ‘vain repititions?’

“But when ye pray, use not vain repititions, as the heathen do: for they think they shall be heard for their much speaking.” (Matthew 6:7)

The Lord’s Prayer — or any part of Scripture for that matter — was not given to us as something to repeat as a prayer, but as how we should approach God and then make our requests known to Him. That is how James MacDonald once explained the Lord’s Prayer to us.

One can only wonder what is happening at Harvest these days especially since Elephant Room 2, when T D Jakes was declared as having embraced the Biblical understanding of the Trinity even though he used Modalistic language when he explained how he now understands the Trinity, and T D Jakes was not confronted concerning the ‘prosperity gospel’ that he continues to preach.

**ADDED 8/20/12** Due to the concerns that many have because of the Elephant Room 2 conference, please consider watching this new video>> NO CO EVER: EPISODE 1   from ‘NO COMPROMISE RADIO,’ as Mike Abendroth leads James White, Carl Trueman, and Phil Johnson in an excellent discussion about what happened — and what should have happened — during Elephant Room 2 concerning T D Jakes, and the importance of sound doctrine.

I am increasingly growing concerned for all who attend Harvest, which is the main purpose for this post; this was meant to be  a strong warning written to alert those who attend Harvest.  Please pray for James MacDonald, all those in leadership, and especially for all the people who attend Harvest; pray discernment, wisdom, a desire to search the Scriptures for truth, and that they would be made aware of the danger of these unbiblical practices by searching the above mentioned sites, or you can click on the many ministries in the side bar that I personally search to find information on a person in question or to help me better understand the many practices in question.

In spite of the many warnings those who attend Harvest have received in their sermons lately –as when Jeff Donaldson told them how they should not read any blogs that are “tearing down some church or tearing down some pastor,” — (as Scott William Bryant of ‘Bloodstained Ink’ reveals to us in his post, ‘HARVEST BIBLE CHAPEL: IS DISSENT THE SAME AS REBELLION?‘)  they (and all Christians) need to be made aware of the danger of partaking in these occultic practices — if indeed that is what is beginning to take place at Harvest — no matter how innocent these practices may appear to be.

I am very sorry for the delay in updating this post by adding more information to verify my concerns, but due to previous computer problems — as well as my work schedule and trying to keep my priorities in order — I have not had very much free time to complete this post as desired.  I have vacation time coming soon, and, Lord willing, will complete this then.  So for now, please consider reading the important information at the links posted below in my reply to Pastor Dan McGhee’s comment.  This is some of the information I had intended to add to this post, and will help you see not only the valid reasons I have for entitling this post with such strong words, but also why I have concerns about the recent ‘Ephesian Service.’

SOME ‘WHAT IFS’ FOR YOU TO CONSIDER

(Here’s one to start with; more to come when time allows).

1)  Since James MacDonald is developing a close relationship with Perry Noble not only because of the Elephant Room Conferences, but also because James has been a part of Perry Noble’s New Spring Church Conferences, and since Perry Noble has recently told the readers of his blog in the ‘DIALOGUE WITH GOD’ portion…

“When you have some uninterrupted time, sit quietly with a pen and paper and wait.  Then write what you hear during the silence.  This sounds like a simple task, but for many of us it is a real challenge.  Discipline yourself to set aside a time of stillness before the Lord to hear God speak.  He will speak right to your heart.”  SOURCE   (Emphasis is mine).  (To learn more, please consider reading this article by Erin Benziger of DO NOT BE SURPRISED, entitled  NEW SPRING CHURCH BLOG: “WRITE WHAT YOU HEAR DURING THE SILENCE”)

‘WHAT IF’ it’s only a matter of time until James MacDonald will encourage those who attend Harvest to ‘be still before the Lord and write down what they hear God speak to them?’  This is a New Age practice known as ‘automatic writing,’ where the person sits quietly and allows the ‘spirits’ to speak to them, and they record what they hear being spoken to them.  This is also how the still very popular ‘Christian’ devotional book, ‘GOD CALLING’ was written back in the 1930’s, and you can read about it here .”

ADDED SEPT. 6, 2012…

2) Since James MacDonald has confirmed that there will definitely be an ELEPHANT ROOM 3, (you can read about it here ) in spite of all the controversy that took place over TD Jakes being one of the speakers at E R 2, and especially because of his comments during that conference that led people to believe TD Jakes is still a Modalist, who will be the new speakers chosen that will attract a large turnout for ER3? (**UPDATE** Seems there has been a change of plans, and it appears now that there will not be another ‘Elephant Room Conference’ –at least not in the near future).

Originally I was going to say it would be Rick Warren, because he was going to be one of the speakers at Perry Noble’s New Spring Conference, (in which James MacDonald is a part of, and this conference is taking place even now as I type this.  You can read Erin Benziger’s insights into what she sees emerging in her post she wrote today, 9/6/12, entitled  PERRY NOBLE’S 2012 NEWSPRING LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE AND THE NEW EMERGING NEW EVANGELICAL MAGISTERIUM )  Rick Warren, however, cancelled out of the conference because of a family issue.

Rick Warren seems to be showing up at many of these conferences with the ‘new tribe‘ that has formed during the Elephant Room Conferences.  People such as Perry Noble, Steven Furtick, and James MacDonald, are seen together at almost all these conferences, along with others of concern (will add information in near future)  Personally, I think it’s only a matter of time before we see Rick Warren as one of the guest speakers at an ‘Elephant Room Conference.’  As James MacDonald’s relationship and friendship grows stronger through his interaction with Rick Warren during these conferences, it seems almost certain.

I remember reading James MacDonald’s blog a couple of years ago.  One person was trying to warn James about Rick Warren, and his reply in part was, ‘Oh pllllease…’ James completely dismissed this person’s valid warning, so it would not surprise me at all if Rick Warren is announced as a guest speaker in the near future.  I know that’s very hard for some of us to believe, but how many of us would have thought the day would actually come when James would speak highly of, and become involved with, TD Jakes, a known Modalist and prosperity preacher, when James strongly spoke against false teachers and prosperity preachers in the not too distant past?

IF YOU ARE UNAWARE OF THE CONCERNS MANY HAVE ABOUT RICK WARREN, PLEASE CONSIDER WATCHING THE FOLLOWING FOUR PART VIDEO SERIES

 What if Rick Warren is a part of the Elephant Room Conference in the near future?  Are you aware of what he teaches, and the mystical practices he endorses as part of his ‘Daniel Plan?’  Will you as a member or attendee of Harvest Bible Chapel rise up and say, “Enough is enough” if indeed this happens?

3)Since James MacDonald has said many times — during sermons (such as in his sermon dated June 10th 2012) and elsewhere — that he meets with Bill Hybels for lunch…

…what if Bill Hybels will become one of the newest guest speakers of the upcoming Elephant Room 3 Conference and becomes part of the ‘new tribe?’  Are you aware of the fact that Bill Hybels has Brian McLaren — one of the main leaders of the ‘Emergent Church’ — speak at Willowcreek quite often?  Are you willing to stand up and let your voices be heard before it’s too late? 

Rick Warren has endorsed James MacDonald’s new book, ‘Vertical Church,’ and had this to say:

“I didn’t just read this book–I savored it.  It’s packed with great content that every pastor, whether rookie or veteran, will benefit from.  I’m so grateful my friend James MacDonald invested the time to help us all, because it is a message of hope for every church.”SOURCE

You can read what others have to say about ‘VERTICAL CHURCH,’ such as Bill Hybels, who says,  “Vertical Church will force you to think fresh thoughts about the future of the church…”  as well as Mark Driscoll, who is identified as “Preaching and Vision Pastor,”  and once again, Rick Warren adds his endorsement, and you can see it all >>here.

Also, concerning James MacDonald’s ‘Vertical Church’ book, it has been made known to those who attend Harvest Bible Chapel through their July 28th29th >>HARVEST ANNOUNCEMENT<<VIDEO that… “People are freaking out about this book…Pastor Rick Warren, Pastor Mark Driscoll, Pastor Bill Hybels…”   If James indeed had concerns about Rick Warren and Bill Hybels, they would certainly not draw attention to these men in the promotion of the Vertical Church book, would they? 

The above ‘What if’s’ are some very possible things that could take place in the near future.  These are just some words of warnings to all of you who attend Harvest, (or any church, for that matter) so that you will be alert and aware of the possible spiritual dangers that may lie ahead.

Please become informed of the many spiritual deceptions that are taking place in the church today, so that you will not slowly be led into deception in these last days.  Above all, pray for discernment, read your Bible and test every message from all who claim to speak God’s Word; ‘examine the Scriptures daily to see if what is being said is true.’  (Acts 17:11)

• FAITH UNDONE – Roger Oakland.  The Emerging Church – a new reformation, or an end-time deception.  (Read about it here).

• THIS LITTLE CHURCH WENT TO MARKET – Pastor Gary Gilley “…a call for the church to return to its Scriptural roots.”  (Read about that book and others by Pastor Gary Gilley, here.   You can also read many excellent articles he has written exposing mysticism, here).

SOME CONCERNS

When James MacDonald goes on his ‘Vertical Church Tour’ promoting his book, ‘Vertical Church’ from August 8th to October 3rd, (see video here)  >>One. Big. Announcement. Check out the latest information on Vertical Church , who will fill the pulpit during his very long absence? **UPDATE 9/6/12** So far, Rick Donald and Jeff Donaldson have been standing in for James MacDonald; was concerned of the possibility that Steven Furtick or Mark Driscoll may speak. **UPDATE 10/10/12 Craig Groeschel filled in for James on September 30th.

Has James somehow lost his awareness of his main responsibility which is to care for and watch over his sheep, whom God has entrusted to him?  “Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers.  Be shepherds of the church of God, which He bought with His own blood.”  (Acts 20:28)

Why all the emphasis lately in James’ sermons and especially in his ‘VERTICAL CHURCH’ book on ‘God’s glory coming down?’ Didn’t God’s glory already come down when Jesus came to this earth?  (John 1:14, 2:11, Luke 9:32, Hebrews 1:3)  The only others in ‘ministry’ who focus on ‘God’s glory,’ are unbiblical ‘preachers’ such as Todd Bentley, and Bill Johnson of Bethel Church in Redding CA, (others could also be mentioned).  Just be cautious, Harvesters.  Don’t be led astray into seeking after ‘experiences’ with God.  Remember that Jesus said that,  “A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a miraculous sign!”  (Matthew 12:39)

In light of the information you learned about Rick Warren from the videos above, does the thought of having Rick Warren at the Resurgence Conference concern you?

Does Mark Driscoll give us  good reasons for having James MacDonald at the Resurgence Conference?  Would Paul the apostle be described in this way?  Isn’t God the one who grows the church?  (Acts 2:47) (1 Corin. 3:7) It seems for some, that church has sadly become simply an “organization.”

It is very disconcerting to see just how ‘dedicated’ — shall we say– that James has become to get the message of ‘VERTICAL CHURCH’ out, as you will see in the following video…

PLEASE continue to pray for James as well as the other pastors and elders, and especially for all who attend Harvest.  God bless you and thank you very much for taking the time to read the latest concerns I have about what is taking place at my former church, Harvest Bible Chapel Rolling Meadows.  Please keep praying and don’t give up hope, Harvesters! 

Soon I am going to be bringing this post to an end by wrapping up my thoughts on this, as well as on the introduction to the poem that I wrote to try and express my concerns to those of you who attend Harvest, entitled, ‘WARNING YOU WITH TEARS‘ in the near future.  There comes a time when we must move ahead.  This whole thing has been very spiritually draining for me, as I know it is for many of you who are still attending.  If you find yourself unable to enter into worship with all your heart when you are at Harvest, or if you find yourself in need of analyzing each and every sermon that is preached (as I did before I left) beyond just being a good Acts 17:11 Berean, and if you are unable to sit and enjoy hearing God’s Word being preached when you are there, (maybe with good reason) then it may be time for you to move on and begin your search for another church, as well.  We all need to have our focus on Christ, and not allow the ‘enemy of our souls’ to drain us of our joy and strength, which can cause us to be rendered powerless and unable to be used by God when an opportunity arises for us to share His love and truth and words of encouragement with someone He may bring our way. 

I may have left Harvest, but my heart is still filled with concern for all of you.  Pray and think about all of this.  God will give you His strength, wisdom, and courage to do what He may now be calling you to do.  God bless you.  Praying for all of you.
